Traffic question for 2014 RDX w/Tech

The traffic flow indications (red, yellow, green) on my XM Radio system seem very limited in terms of geographic coverage. Example: I live in Westchester County, which is north of NYC. Traffic flow only works in areas beginning approximately five miles south of were I live. On two recent trips north to Vermont, there was no traffic flow information at all for both entire trips. A couple of calls to XM customer service, including a conversation with a technical person, resulted in new signals being sent to my radio, with no result. XM then told me it was an Acura problem.

I previously had an Audi Q5 with Sirius traffic and the coverage was much, much more extensive. Is there a difference in coverage between XM and Sirius (I know they are under the same ownership, but not sure if the systems are the same)?

Anyone else with this issue? Thought I would try here, with people who know what they are talking about, before banging my head against the wall with the dealer. Thanks in advance for any help.

As far as I know Sirius and XM are now the same company.

This is an unfortunate issue with XM. If you go to XM Nav Traffic website and view the coverage map it's not as developed as the Sirius XM Traffic map. Same company, two different signals. Their CEO must not be too bright.

Your Audi had a Sirius radio so you got the better coverage. Acura uses XM radios so they get crappy coverage. I mention that they should switch to Sirius radios when I fill out their surveys.

Thanks, Ottoman. "Crappy coverage" is the perfect description. Thinking of canceling the traffic. It's pretty useless.
