Timing Belt- Dealer parts or After Market

Hi
Back again for some help. It is time for my A14 service which includes oil change, replacement of timing belt spark plugs and I think a tire rotation. The dealer is charging 1890 but I found another place that is charging 1560. Sounds like an easy choice but the auto place is not using Acura parts.. My question is does it matter? My car now has 102,000 miles so it is no longer under warranty and the warranty for the timing belts are the same. I just get worried because I always hear that after market parts can be problematic when it comes to diagnosing problems and repairs. The difference isn't huge but every dollar counts in these times.. Please advise
BTW, I asked the auto store for a quote with Acura parts- $2100...
Thank you

Ask the auto shop cost for bringing in your own parts and then buy it yourself

Look for a kit made by Aisin, said to be the OEM manufacturer. You need to replace the belt, tensioner, an idler bearing and the water pump. Doing the water pump means that the coolant will get replaced. Only use the real Honda coolant from a dealer. Some folks like to
replace the thermostat at the same time. I think there is also a drive belt that gets replaced at the same time. Try to explain to the independent shop that you are not trying to save money by bringing your own parts, but making sure the parts are the quality you want.

Rock Auto is a good source of these parts. Be wary of parts sold on Amazon & EBay. Lots of counterfeits out there. This is especially true of the spark plugs.

FYI, just because you are having the work done at the dealer does not always mean that they are using Acura parts. Ask them to confirm they will be using Acura parts for that quote, and then ask for the new part's boxes and the old parts back when you drop the car off for the work.
