Pandora/XM/Rhapsody

Just got my new RDX (Graphite w/Ebony and Tech)! Love it!!

Questions:

1) Streaming Pandora is very cool. Does anyone notice any in sound quality difference when streaming over bluetooth as oppposed to USB connection? I'm assuming no difference other than convenience.

2) How does sound quality compare streaming Pandora vs XM? Opinions?

3) Has anyone tried to stream Rhapsody?

Thanks

Steve

1. No difference - 128kpbs stream

2. XM is probably 56K at the most. I can't even listen to it.

3. I haven't tried Rhapsody but I am currently playing with Spotify and the quality is great. When you set the quality to "Extreme" is streams at 320kpbs! My only issue is that I like the Pandora song selection better but I'll keep trying. Choice =

I just use the standard audio jack from my phone to the car but it is pretty sweet i also prefer Pandora to Spotify because of the larger selection of music.

It sure seems like Pandora has a larger selection but the opposite is actually true. (1 Million songs vs 16 Million songs - See graph below.)

I think Pandora must just have more music that we like.

Yep it is smart like that and adapts to your listening needs.

It's really too bad that the DVD-Audio format is dead and you can't play DVD-Video because the 5.1 output would be really impressive.

Iphone - Android question. Dealer mentioned on the run through of our new RDX you can only stream Pandora via the USB through the i-phone, if you have android you have to stream Pandora through blue tooth. Is that right? Do I really have to use bluetooth? I guess that's fine as long as I have my phone charging while bluetooth streaming so it doesn't die?

You can use either Bluetooth or the AUX cable with Android phones. Bluetooth doesn't use up that much power, so no need to plug the phone in unless you like to keep the display on.

An advantage of Bluetooth (among the many that you get when you pair your phone with Bluetooth) is that your media skip / rewind buttons on your steering wheel can control your media application. I've never tried Pandora on my Android, but Google Play Music and Doggcatcher works, and I can only assume it works with Pandora as well.

Thanks! I just recently started using Google Play over iTunes so knowing I can blue tooth it or Pandora and still manage the controls from the steering wheel will be great.

Sorry to resurrect this thread but I'm considering purchasing a ipod touch for my acura. I have rhapsody on my android but I'm disappointed with the bluetooth stream quality. I can use the headphone jack but then I have to look at the screen to switch songs.

I'm wondering if I can control rhapsody from the acura display when using an ipod touch.

Can you be more specific about the bluetooth stream quality issue? I find that it's very good and probably as good or better than the headphone jack - perhaps the problem is the audio source that's being streamed?
