Cellphone signal strength display

Cellphone signal strength display
On my other Acuras, the cellular signal strength (number of bars) was displayed all the time a paired phone was in the vehicle. On the RDX, though, it doesn't show until I'm actually on a call.
That's not very helpful, since you need to know you're in a good signal area before you make a call. That's only an issue when traveling, I know, but just the same, it seems weird to me to do it that way.
I'm running an iPhone 4S right now, so I'm wondering if maybe that's the problem. Does it change with an iPhone 5?

Mike_TX....That is not exclusive to your phone. It is a characteristic of the RDX (at least with the tech)....I have 2 different phones and even my current BB is doing the exact same thing. It is annoying as you said...if the RDX has the capability of displaying the signal (as when its use), why not do it all the time as with my 2012 TL. Its not a show stopper but a little thing that makes you go Hummm?! What is there to gain by having them remove that features that was already there on other Acuras?

When the wife and I travel in the Desert Southwest (which we do frequently), I often check the signal strength on our TL's to know if we have enough signal to call the mother-in-law, etc. With the RDX, you actually have to try to make the call to know ... or haul out the phone and look at its display.
Like you say, it's no deal-breaker, just one of those things that make you wonder.
