I just bought a used 2013 RDX with the Tech package and am confused about the GPS traffic and weather availability.

As a canadian vehicle, is the Traffic and Weather information service available (like the USA model) as I can't seem to find any GPS screens enabling those features. Are these enabled or appearing only once I purchase the SirrusXM service somehow?

Also, when I try to purchase the GPS database upgrade, the Acura web site doesn't recognize my database version and returns a "Database Error"! (See attachement). How can I therefore purchase updates? Are these databases and software versions the same on Canadian and US models?

Page 63 in the Navigation Manual says in the top right corner:

Traffic and Weather Status; "This item may be grayed out when your vehicle is in Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, Puerto Rico, and Mexico because XM Radio or traffic/weather information is not available."

 

Getting a trial period for Traffic from SiriusXM. Will let you know in 24 - 48 hrs if it works.

Called the support folks for the DVD and should be able to get order placed in at end of Jan....

 

I got the same problem as you when I tried to order the 2015 update for my 14 RDX. I guess the web site is not good for Canadian RDXs..

 

I live in Toronto, when I bought my "imported from US by the dealer" 2013 RDX, it had Sirius subscription which lasted about a year. During that time, traffic information was available (used to check traffic on 401). So I am not sure whether the statement in the manual which says "This item may be grayed out when your vehicle is in Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, Puerto Rico, and Mexico because XM Radio or traffic/weather information is not available." is really true.
