AcuraLink Nav Placename search works on iPhone App

There was some discussion in another thread about the web-based AcuraLink not recognizing placenames.

I just tried it using the AcuraLink iPhone app named 'Connect' and it does work. I searched for "Fallsview Restaurant, Niagara Falls, Ontario". It found it. and by clicking on the flag displayed on the map it gives me a "Send to Car" button.

How cool is that?

Read the thread again. "Fallsview resturant" works just fine. It's "Fallsview casino" that doesn't work. Despite the fact that it's clearly shown in the screenshot.

OK, I misunderstood. I thought you were saying that AcuraLink did not understand placenames at all.

The proper name for that facility is actually Fallsview Casino Resort, so Bing has mislabeled it. Maybe thats why the Acura app cant find it correctly.

It I enter just "fallsview casino resort" on a web browser it returns zero locations, but if I enter "fallsview casino resort" Niagrara Ontario I do get the casino popping up.

If I just enter "fallsview casino resort" on my Android app, it brings up several locations in the area of West Virgina, but none in Canada.

If I enter "fallsview casino resort" Niagara Ontario, it will return the Casino.

So although the Android app and browser behave differently, they both return the desired result when the city name is added after the place name.

I don't have an IOS device handy to test their app.

So... must add city name to search. Kinda lame but i'll do it from now on. I hate having to search with google maps, copying the adress of the found location and pasting it back in the Acuralink app.

All that just to send the address to the RDX for my next roadtrip.
