We live in a relatively safe area, but she and the two little kids were visiting family in a bad area of town. She was loading the kids while two guys approached her with a gun. Telling here to get our little girl out and give them the keys. My wife was crazy and asked for her drivers license back and they just threw her purse back and took the car. Glad the wife and kids were unhurt, it could have been worse.

The car was recovered within 24hrs. Had to drive in a bad area and watch the police run prints on the car. Took several hours. Seems like they were using the car just like it was their own. The threw away our carseats and paperwork. The had their musics cds and cables to their phone connected when we recovered the vehicle.

Wife and kids didn't want to touch the car and have anything to do with it when I got it back. It was our favorite car we ever owned. Had to suck it up and trade in the car. Carfax had it reported as stolen but recovered which sucked for trade in. It was 2013 base with 18k miles, the best we got was 24,500. Luckily the sales manager had some sympathy and give us the maximum deal on a 2014 mdx pricewise, but for the trade we had to take the hit.

Sorry for the long post. Just wanted to spread info. Could happen to anyone anywhere anytime. Ironically the acura rdx was on the list of least stolen cars somewhere I read recently.

Sorry to hear about that. Was it far from Kenner? It can be dangerous anywhere but sad to say I am afraid of some parts of N.O.. I have family that lives there and I try to stay in what I feel may be safer areas since I dont live there.
Just glad that they are doing well and no one got hurt.

The carjacking occured in New Orleans East. I'm thinking about upgrading to a car alarm system. Blackjax5 anti carjacking from clifford seems cool. They can take off with the car and leave about 3 to 4 blocks. They have to enter a code or the engine will shut off.

even robbers with a minimum amount of decency would avoid carjacking a car with kids.
If they get caught and are put in jail, I hope prison rules apply to them!

Sounds like some bad guys, seeing how they would carjack a family. Good news, no one was hurt. Their prints are probably in the system based on their brazen actions. Too bad the dealer piled on with a low trade number, I bet when they resell it they'll down play the theft and recovery saying "it was no big deal, the car wasn't damaged".

tdsounds...That is simply disgusting!! I hope that these a$$holes will be caught and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Its one thing to steal a vehicle when its parked in the driveway but to terrorize wife and kids....unacceptable!!
