Well this might be an issue!!!

http://arstechnica.com/security/2013...olice-stumped/

In summary burglars just walked up to cars and pulled on door handles to try to open them. They got to Acuras and they opened and got inside and rummaged thru the stuff.

Um... so can we disable the smart key and force the use of the key button?

That looks like a 1G MDX and a 3G TL. Neither of those vehicles would have a smart key, so whatever device those guys were using they must have hacked the radio signal that you would get from clicking the button on the remote fob.

In fact, the article even says they had to have hacked the remote signal - did you even read it? haha

I bet its something simple like a strong magnet to jam the sensor on the door, nevermind no smart key on those two vehicles

The article suggests that they might be using some kind of repeater to strengthen the signal between the fob and the car, since the fob is likely somewhere in the house, and then trigger the unlock request.

This is why people should put their cars in their garages rather than filling their garages with worthless junk and leaving the cars in the driveway.

I agree 150% with post #5 and #6!! I would never leave my Acura's outside and I laugh when I see people with their car in the driveway at -30C and scraping their windows in those cold Canadian morning while they have junk in the garage that will never use.

I do have my Hyundai outside but that is because I have my 2 other cars in the garage already and this fall, my 3rd (detached) garage will be built which will be in reality, a garage and wash bay as it will be my car detailing garage (24X24) with PVC line interior, drain on the floor, hoist, etc....my dream finally coming true.

TLtrigirl....Feel free to come and use it anytime....it will be our detailing garage *lol*

^^^ Agree. Being a car detailing fanatic, this will be my dream garage...It will be everything a professional detailing shop should be. I am not going to cut corner and will be where I will spend most of my time. My porn time will be reduced substantially....*lol*

*** Don't laugh ***
My garage opening is so small (older home) that it leaves just an inch or so of either side to get in/out plus it has a steel support beam in the middle of the garage where it leaves almost no room to open the door to get in/out ... some of us aren't rich enough to get a bigger garage nor have an option to expand .

LOL- I have the same problem as you. Only to ADD TO MY PROBLEMS, I have to get out of my car and FOLD THE MIRRORS before entering the garage. Since my last car had electric folding mirrors I never even "thought" that this "luxury" brand didn't have them....even with the "technology package". Gee, I'm sure glad they added HomeLink, so I can get out to fold the mirrors before I hit the HomeLink button to open the garage door.
