Transmission Drain / Fill 3x

Honda recommends a transmission drain-and-fill every 30k miles I believe. They've had a lot of transmission problems over the years due to fluid breakdown.
A lot of it was Honda's fault though, like most manufacturers they were recommending at the time to either -never- change the fluid, or do it maybe every 100k miles or something ridiculous.
I use a bottle of the LubeGuard Red Synthetic transmission additive in all my higher-mileage vehicles. Anything by LubeGuard for transmissions is great stuff, it should be OEM in all vehicles in my opinion!

Nice!
And get two new aluminum sealing washers. I never reuse them anywhere where they are used.
What about the transmission filter?
In certain cases (especially when there is no dipstick), I measure what comes out and replace it with the same quantity.

An alternative to this method (which I'm sure benefitted dell30's RDX) is to one drain and refill of the transmission fluid every other oil change. This is more than what Honda/Acura calls for but the transmission is most probably the weakest component of these pretty well made cars. I do my own oil changes for both my 2012 TL and wife's 2017 RDX. Doing this and getting the refresh on the trans software are what I'm hoping will keep the trans for these cars healthy to 300K. My TL just turned 240 K and the transmission still is shifting smooth with no judder. I use only the Honda DW-1 oil.
I have changed the filter out once on the TL at ~90K. I had the gurgling sound and described in the TSB. Since I've gone to this more frequent trans drain and fills, there has been no gurgling sound re-occurrence.The RDX has 100K and has no gurgling sound.

For those that bought their RDX new and have a full history of their vehicle, I wonder at what mileage they first noticed this "shudder problem". Other than engine oil and filter changes that I do more often, no issues yet in my low mileage 2017 and I follow the maintenance indications.

I bought my 2017 Tech used with 40k miles. The original owner had the transmission TSB perfromed at 16k-17k miles.
I had the fluttering RPMs at 72 mph during the early part of my ownership. I disconnected the battery for 30 minutes so it could learn my driving habits. And I had the transmission fluid changed. It worked.
