Hello, new here. Just bought a 16 RDX AWD with tech. Is there any way to make the music mute or lower so text messages or GPS directions can be heard? I’ve tried to find it in the menus and can’t seem to. Also seems kinda silly that a 40k dollar car wouldn’t have this feature, despite being three years old. I traded a 16 Mazda 6 GT on this car and the Mazda has all these features. Thanks in advance.

A lot of features are not available in this generation RDX since it’s infotainment is based on older generation. I don’t remember right now if the sound is muted when reading texts. I’ll have to check again. Apart from the lousy infotainment, this is an awesome car. Congratulations on your new purchase.

Our 2016 mutes the audio for Nav directions. Or maybe that is Google maps chiming in from the connected iPhone. We are quite disappointed in the NAV, but the sound system is still worth the tech package.

It’s very sad, compared to my 16 Mazda 6. That was way more intuitive and had the option to add CarPlay. My GTI has CarPlay, so trying fumble through this Acura system is very disappointing.

There is no mute setting that I'm aware of, but there IS a setting to raise the volume for the GPS instructions. I recall that it wasn't intuitive and I had to search through the settings, but I did find it.

Sadly there are mistakes in the owner's manual. It seems like they just lifted whole parts from the MDX one. Some stuff does not apply.
It does take a while to set everything up exactly how you want it. Some stuff is done through the MID and some through the center stack.
Some is for the whole car and some is by driver. I have done most of mine while sitting in airport cell lots.

Easiest way to adjust the prompts/text volume is to hit the volume button/knob as the text or prompt is being read. But yeah, I wish the music volume would just dim automatically, but it doesn't.
