Scuff plates on RDX

Does the current RDX offer scuff plates at the rear bumper/ tailgate as an accessory? I haven't seen any RDX with it but just wondering. Does anyone have an experience with similar OEM/ aftermarket parts? Thanks.

Good question. We picked up a new 2016 RDX two days ago. The ledge on the rear bumper is a scratch waiting to happen. I haven't found anything other than the OEM Rear Bumper "Applique", which appears to me nothing more than a clear protective film.

I'm thinking that any generic SUV's scuff plate should fit provided the shape is similar/ close to the tail area. If anyone has used aftermarket parts please chime in.

Yes any one will work. The only issue is of course you want it match the curvature of the rear bumper. I would personally go with the 3m clear bumper appliqué thing. Cleaner look and also just as strong as the normal one.

I have the oem one and it does its job. Better then leaving it exposed and it fits the vehicle perfect with the RDX logo on it. If you do go aftermarket most likely you'll have to modify it to fit perfectly. I prefer oem for that reason.

If you can make a template of the RDX bumper curvature, and try to match it up to another vehicle. A generic rubber scuff plate held on with double sided tape would work The rubber would have to fit "under" the rear door.

See sample below.

I see what you mean. I didn't think about that possibility of limited space underneath the door. In this case only OEM makes sense right now.
For some reason I always thought that the RDX bumper protrudes out like any other SUV / many cars. Thanks.
