My upside down picture of the S-VCM installation instructions that I had posted previously has been bugging me. So I'll give it another try. So far I'm very pleased with the way the car has behaved with the S-VCM. I've driven it about 40 miles of mixed city/freeway and I like the feel of driving with all 6 cylinders all of the time. Engine and transmission are smooth and perform as I expect it to.
The temperatures are from a BlueDriver OBDII scan tool that I have. It allows me to monitor variables live including coolant temperature.
Got it, that makes sense. Similar to my ScanGauge II that I had connected to my 2013 Jetta TDI. I can't believe manufacturers not installing a coolant temperature gauge and voltmeter in a car.
Transmission is smooth, no more stuttering around in city driving, no more gliding feeling, no more grabbing sensation as I come to a stop.
This I have yet to experience in my "stock" RDX since it is my first automatic transmission in 44 years of vehicle ownership. If I had the energy and time, I 'd go to some used car lots to see what this is about.
I had to take my car to the dealer for service bulletin 17-011 and also the fuel pump recall that is a software upgrade, so removed the S-VCM controller. The difference was night and day and even more annoying altering having driven it with the VCM disabled. I put it in Sport + mode for some of the trip, but that has its own issues when driving normally. I reinstalled the controller last night. I noticed that the coolant temperatures on my drive to the dealership stayed in the 173-174 degree range with a reported high point of 176 degrees. I think it’s a 173 degree thermostat.
