Roof Rails and Crossbars
Does anyone have any pictures with installed roof rails and crossbars? I am debating between getting them or buying an aftermarket version to use when needed. Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance!

Does anybody else think the new RDX looks a bit weird with at least roof rails on the top? I can't for the life of me figure out why Acura can't at least make the roof rails standard on the RDX from the factory. I could of sworn the 1G had it this way.
It's over $600 bucks for the rails and I think over $300 for the crossbars. Between the two, that adds almost $1k in accessories alone.
I understand Acura needs to charge for accessories but don't you think that's a little bit too much?

I am picking up my 2013 RDX with roof rails this weekend - I did not buy the cross bars yet - has anyone used non-acura crossbars like Yakima or Thule with the roof rails? I believe the Acura crossbars have a weight limit of 110 lbs - not sure if other non-acura crossbars have a higher weight limit. We would like the ability to carry 2 kayaks, 110 lb limit should be fine but might feel more comfortable with a stronger crossbar.
Thanks

Thule are supposed to be some of the best out there, I'd expect they can carry a lot of weight. Plus, I kind of like the look of Thules. If you can put them on the RDX I think it would give it an awesome rugged look.
Also, depending on which ones you get they are actually cheaper than Acura stock rails!! Go figure.

That labor charge is way too high. ESPECIALLY for an accessory for a NEW car. I'm going to make a guess of $60 an hour for labor (give or take depending on your geographic location) and they SHOULD be able to install in a half day!!! So that means approx $240 in labor. Now, these are professionals, and I honestly think that 4 hours is being VERY generous to install a roof rail.

Wow, thw quotes I received for roof rails, hitch, side molding and splash guards all installed ranged from $1,099 to $2,089. $1,500 for just the roof rails is pure thievery. stay away from that dealer if you can.

Wow. Does that include a happy ending too? JK
Seriously though, the roof rails don't come with the cross bars. Does that price include the cross bars? Even if it does include the cross bars, it does seems a little over the top. I would definitely shop around. And remember to take printouts of the prices from online sites that carry the accessories cheaper.
I brought in copies of my cart from http://www.handa-accessories.com/ and was able to negotiate 15% off on all accessories. Good luck.

Anyway, I'm curious if anyone notices wind noise from rails - just the rails with no cross bars?

I don't notice wind noise, but to be fair, wind noise doesn't bother me all that much. I've driven up to 80MPH, so it's not just at low speeds.

Yakima and RDX rails
Has anyone used Yakima towers and crossbars with their RDX rails? I have Yakima components (ski rack and bike trays) and would only need to get the towers if I get rails on the RDX that I plan to purchase later in February. I like the idea of using the rails rather than putting generic towers against the roof.
