RDX Color & Trade in Q
Anyone have the Forged Silver Metallic? or seen it ? I dont know if its my monitor calibration or something but that's the only one that looks like it's blueish ? Isn't it weird that most of the color are silver/gray ?
Q2 is i never traded in a car before, you think they'll take a 99 accord or is it too old ?

I have the Forged Silver. I love the color. It does have a blue tint, especially when it is overcast, in the shade or at dusk. And it hides the dirt, at least from a distance.
As far as trades go, they'll usually take just about anything, but you may not get much for it. I'd suggest checking Kelly Blue Book, NADA and Yahoo Autos to see what you might expect for trade value based on mileage and condition. You will always get less as a trade than you would get selling it to a private party, but in most states, you won't pay sales tax on the trade value (i.e. if the new car is $40,000, and your trade is $5000, you only pay sales tax on $35,000) which helps offset the loss.
Also, if you need the money from the old car as a down payment, there is a convenience factor of not having to time the selling of the old one with the buying of the new one...

I have a 05 tsx with 160k and 99 accord with 110k.
Ideally I like to ditch the 99 accord as there are some issues with egr/erg valve, rear axle issues. They both price out around 4-4500 in kbb..
Ill give it a shot if they even want the accord.. .lol

I'd also look at the edmunds.com trade in appraisal. A lot of times folks will see the highest possible value on KBB or NADA and get thrown off when the dealer doesn't offer those numbers. But to follow bh9712's comment it's a lot easier to trade in than deal with private party or even selling to a seperate dealer than who you buy your new vehicle from.
My experience has been that all the trade values provided in KBB, NADA etc. never match dealer trade in values. The dealer will provide top $ for a vehicle that they'll have no trouble moving and requires minimum effort on their part to prepare for sale.
Most of the colors are silver/gray/white. Checked my dealer's site, 28 RDX's in stock, not a single Basque Red. We waited several weeks for this color, worth it IMO. Sales guy said that the red is unexpectedly popular, most dealers didn't order as many, but now is in more demand. Ideally would have liked the blue that is available on the TSX sport wagon, which two guys at the dealer said they'd been asking Acura about.
As for the trade, most dealers are looking for trades, since inventory is low and many folks are looking to buy used. Think however they are mostly looking for 3-5 year old models with more reasonable miles. Guessing that anything that old would get dumped to a wholesaler (nothing personal, an Acura dealership isn't probably seling many cars worth less than 10K on their lot, checked my dealer and they have a 2004 nissan altima with 126K for 8500, everything else is basically 12K and up.) I got rid of my 2000 on the side, didn't even bring it up when getting the RDX.

Not to mention that sales tax is usually calculated on the difference between new car sales price and trade allowance.

Can't wait to see what my 2004 TL with over 202,000 miles (so far) is going to fetch. I'll definitely be taking it to Carmax first.
Yeah I used edmund and nada and they came back a lot lower, around 2500-3000. Which is fine, they are old dying cars..
So I just scored, one of my friend is a sales guy at Acura of Brooklyn, ny, Im gonna see what he can help me out with... hopefully something good

Most dealers will tell you they don't use KBB or NADA for trade-in valuation anymore. Manheim seems to be the preferred source for up-to-date pricing today. Unfortunately, the general public doesn't have access to Manheim pricing.
