Rails and crossbars

I'm getting close to pulling the trigger on a 2014 RDX and I'm waffling on whether to add the roof rails and crossbars or not. Every SUV I've ever owned has had some sort of a rack but most of the RDXs I see do not have them. For those of you that opted to add the hardware, do you have any second thoughts now that you've had it for a while.

Thanks!

Rails are worth it. For crossbars, I have the Yakima 58" bars and their feet that grab the rails. I can take them from car to car.

I had them on my 2 MDXs and never used them once. I have seen them on the RDX and I don't like them, especially with the brushed aluminum colour.

Really depends on how much you use them. The rails are $500 and crossbars are another $200. If you only need it a few times a year, the Yakima clamp ons are cheaper and cost about $400.

+1, except I have Thule cross bars. Allows me to take the cross bars, bike carriers etc from car to car.

I also feel that the rails improve the look of the RDX by giving it a bit more height. Without them it looks a bit more wagon like than SUV like.

Have had the whole shebang on both RDXs(07 Tech, '14 Sh-AWD tech) and use them to haul our 2 kayaks. Perfect for the job!

Thanks. I finally got to see the set up, up close on a model in the showroom on Saturday and I will have to think long and hard. In the flesh I was pretty underwhelmed, particularly for a $1400 add-on. Even if the dealer wasn't padding the price it struck me as a less than elegant set up - something that really looked like an afterthought.

Get the rails, not the crossbars. You can use aftermarket crossbars when necessary. Car looks like Toyota Versa without the rails. The crossbars are too clunky looking. I negotiated the rails into the price when buying. I added mud flaps, BSM and tailgate film myself, but the rails should be done be dealer.

I'd just the rails just for look alone.

If you get them beware, the labeling is wrong from the factory and the dealer will install them wrong based on those wrong labels. Front is back and left is right. I had to switch mine not only because they looked terrible but also because of wind noise. they look of now.

Well guys, I have accepted the fact that the stupid bases are tilted, the wind noise is unbearable if you switch them around. I just stopped looking at them. You know it is little details like these which make a difference in a luxury brand, Acura really needs to pay attention to details. I love the RDX but I do notice that the vehicle has some flaws which are so stupid I don't know how Acura let them pass. I think these cars are selling so fast that they are being put together not in the best way. I notice panels which are loose, plastics that dont fit well, and that suspension clunking a lot of people are complaining about. Lots of threads out there addressing these issues.
