Product cycle

based on the generations of rdx it seems that a 2018 refresh is in order

I believe the all new model will arrive in 2019 only. They would want to get the maximum juice out of the 2016 refresh.
I've noticed that those brands which have a shorter product cycle generally do well and gain in prestige over time.

Honda/Acura is typically 4/5/6 model years depending upon model so a "all new" RDX could be on tap for 2018...or 2019. with the newer government mandates coming online for 2018-19 I would expect to see a chassis change earlier rather than later.

CL/TL 2nd gen was 2001 (early release for 01 CL in 2000) to 2003
3rd gen TL was 04-08
5th gent TL was 09-14 (an exception)
gen 1 RDX was 6 years

Temple of VTEC has a spy photo of what they call a 2018 RDX being test driven in Death Valley.

Well they did an amazing job hiding that thing. But from the frontal pics looks like I can see the new grille shape formed into mesh on the camo so 90% certain this really is an RDX. I like what I read about dual exhaust!

One of the main reasons the RDX is such a huge success is the V6 with vcm.

Looks good. Cannot see anything about which brand the car is. How the hell they decided this is the RDX? The rear window has something like a hump seen in current CRV.

The grill looks like Acura's new grill, headlights resemble my current (RDX) "diamond" headlights, and the "sensing" tech on the windshield looks like Acura's current stuff. Makes me think it'll be the new RDX, maybe 2019 refresh.

+1.

Incredibly smooth, powerful and economical!

If they go back to a turbo 4, I'll look elsewhere for a replacement.

In my opinion it is price more than anything else making the rdx as attractive as it is. That and then the promise of reliability vs the german competition.

And the smooth and powerful V6 engine. It was a big factor for me at least.
