Pricing: 2015 leftover vs 2016 base vs 2013 Tech CPO
So we have been holding off on the Tucson, but may need to spring sooner than the release date.
We are looking at 2013 AWD Tech CPOs (<30k miles). The best deals in the area are roughly $30-31k and dealers do NOT seem to be budging more than a few hundred off. It is making me wonder if we should just get a leftover new 2015 that is discounted for only a few grand more. Or even a 2016 base. It just seems foolish to get a CPO and absorb a price that if reflective of depreciation and mileage, as opposed to getting a new 2015, that is discounted for reasons of supply/demand. Clearly the resale % of a 2015 purchased at a discount makes more economic sense than buying a used 2013 CPO.
Also, the Navi is so freaking dated on the 2013/14/15, I cant imagine getting good use out of it now, let alone 4-5 years from now. All i really care for are HIDs, and the 2016 comes standard with LEDs. So we are throwing a Base 2016 AWD into the mix as well. We have ruled out the 2016 Tech due to the dual screen setup (it was too much of an attention deterrent to focus on the road / nav screen / media screen).
Guess a few questions for those in the marketplace:
1. Do you think dealers should/would come down from the 2013 AWD Tech into the high 20ks (28k/29k?) Is there a good website other than autotrader to locate good CPO deals?
2. How much of a discount could be had for a 2015 AWD (base/tech)?
3. Should I anticipate paying sticker ($37k) for a 2016 Base AWD?

Yes, a new 2015 RDX with discount will be far more preferable to a 2013 CPO with a only a few grands less. And 2016 base...if you prefer the LEDs. The navigation in 13-15 is definitely dated. I use the navigation mostly as an adjunct to driving (I mean without placing destination), if you really want to place a destination address, use only the zip code first method.
I thought you were looking at the Lexus NX as well ....

If you live in the south or have very little use of AWD, then the 16 makes more sense.

Hi, I am not new but have been absent from Acurazine site for a long time until today. We just bought a 2015 leftover RDX AWD/Tech. Kona Coffee color with Parchment from the VA dealership.
$34,699.00 + Doc Fee (ouch) + VA Dealer Biz License Tax ($59). We are from PA and the dealership wanted us to pay the tax +Tag/Title on our own. So, we said ok.
Although it was a leftover, I think the $34,699.00 was a very good deal...

I'll be buying our '13 w/Tech, FWD in about three weeks at lease end. My buy-out is ~$23,300...a pretty good deal with a year of warranty left(although we have 38K miles already). Won't be a CPO, of course; but it would be pretty nifty if you could find someone in my circumstance who is about to turn in their leased vehicle...offer them a thousand bucks and take it off their hands! The lack of a 'disposition fee' helps as well.

That was the reason why we drove 180 miles from PA to VA to purchase the RDX AWD/Tech. None of the PA Acura dealers could match the quoted. price. The car had 30 miles on the Odometer when we picked it up yesterday.
The quoted Costco membership price was $36,850 from PA Acura dealership.

I believe I'm within a very few hundred dollars either way...zero down lease, 36 payments 'so far' vs financing the entire amount at a reasonable %(probably something in the 2% range would be available three years ago, BUT not for an extended loan period). It's a bit like having a balloon payment but at a rather low rate.(The old 'TURBO' loans in the old days were KILLERS). I will end up paying about $500 in 'ad valorem' taxes to our fair city(over the three years) because of the lease...NO such tax is collected on consumer-owned vehicles...lesson learned

As a comparison, and showing how a "done correctly" Acura lease can have benefits at lease end, here's a pic of my wife's '12 TL SH-AWD. Her lease-end is in 2 months, and the buy-out at the end is $21,800 - which is about $1500 under the trade-in value (survey of 4 online sites), and about $4000 under private-party price. CPO's of this vehicle (with 25K miles) are nearing $29k. So buying this car (which still looks like this photo, which was taken after we picked it up) is a no-brainer. Plus the fact she's still in love with it is the clincher. The buy-out on my '15 RDX AWD Tech is about $23.8k at the end of lease, and I'll likely buy that out as well.

All in we are in about $38k for a car that stickered at $44k. But the key is that we got to live with it for 3 years to make sure we wanted to live with it longer term. This will be a 10+ year ownership vehicle...
