Poor Info. in Owner's Manual

In the Owner's Manual for my new RDX it has, inside the front cover, the first line stating that the information is correct at the time of authorizing the printing. Honda Motor Corp. reserves the right to make changes.....etc, etc.
So, what I've found is that the directions mine has for recording from a CD to the HDD are NOT for my particular system. Close....but, no banana!!
I had to basically figure out lots of things on my own by just playing with the system.
Yes, my "sales rep." showed us...but, he went through the motions so fast....and I figured what I missed I could pick up by reading the manual!! Uhhh.....nope! So, that's particularly frustrating, especially with a vehicle that has "LOTS" of "stuff" to figure out and learn.
I'm not a computer geek.....but, I'm smart enough to eventually figure things out on my own....but, it sure would save a TON of time if I had correct step by step instructions on some of the intricacies of this Nav/Audio system.
Back in my work days I had to do some Tech. Manual writing. And, it's not easy, to get it right and understandable for anyone and everyone who would be reading the material.
What I found was....NOT that I didn't understand or couldn't follow what was written.....I found totally missing steps. That's when I finally had to "play around" and figure it out on my own.
I'm almost betting they copied some of the info. from the last RDX....or changed some of the hard drive configurations after the manual went to print.

I do agree that the manuals are not that helpful in many instances.

Jim, I know this could get long and involved, and maybe I should not have even started a new thread.
Basically, my system would not "automatically" copy to the HDD upon playing a CD. I followed the Manual step by step. It didn't happen. So, that's when I started going through screens and "doing my own thing."
To generalize this....I had to go to different screens and record from a CD. Each track had to be clicked on and record....the whole track didn't have to play....approx. 1 min. of each one then an indication showed it had recorded completely, then I moved to the next track...etc. Hard to explain in detail without something getting lost in translation.
I know the "book" shows 2 ways to record....Automatically and Manually. Again, mine would not do it automatically. And the way I had to do it was not described at all. Some things are close...but, left me saying..."hey this isn't working like the book lays out.
And as I try to think back when my sales guy took us through the downloading of a CD....very quickly as I said before....I do remember he had to go through some screens, push this, move that etc. He was moving at "lightening" speed. So, it just didn't download our CD automatically. He made it happen.
As I said earlier....I figured I would read the book at home and go through the steps since he was in a big hurry. As it was, the delivery took up enough of my time and I didn't want to stay there forever making him go through the steps more slowly...repeat everything, etc. Again, I thought, me and the manual would get it done later. Well, me and ME got it done with only "some" help from the manual.
I know this doesn't focus right in to the nitty gritty of my issue. That's why I wonder if I should not have started this. My intent was to see if anyone else found that their manual....the step by step instructions...did not exactly work as said.
I will get to the bottom of this....I hope....when I call Acura. Maybe....maybe... I will have something to share based on what they tell me.
Sorry, if this is not as clear as it should be.

Lucky you!! Jim...I tried it like the book said. Doing it that way the whole CD has to play. So, I did that, and when I went to the HDD...nothing was there.
That's when my "trial and error" session started last night. But, again, the sales rep. never explained and showed it the way your's worked. He demo'd a little for us....but, did some "playing" with the screens etc.
After getting it home....and we gave him 2 CD's to play with at the dealer......both CD's had only the 3 or 4 tracks on the HDD that he had put in.
Anyway....I know this will sound complicated and "messy" to most.
Again...if anyone tried to follow the instructions on recording CD's to the HDD and it did not work...step by step as the Manual described then maybe you should call Acura. 1-800-382-2238 and let them know some steps were wrong, missing or....????.
And, again, I know the Manual has a "cover all statement" at the beginning that says the info. inside is accurate ONLY as of the date the manual went to print. We are not responsible....etc, etc.
Maybe my RDX is late enough in the prod. run that something did change and the book isn't quite working for me or others.
I KNOW...some are thinking it's me...I just can't get it right, etc. Hey...I questionned myself too.
But, I repeated the process.....following the Manuall step by step. It just didn't happen as the book said it would. That's all I can say at this point.
