Opti Coat 2.0 Clear Coat

After reading reviews and viewing youtube videos, I purchase the Opti Coat 2.0 for the RDX. I bought the product from Amazon (free shipping) and applied it last Monday. If there is any interest, I will keep you updated. It adds a 2 micron clear coat on top of your factory clear coat. I only used 5cc's (25cc's in package) and will use the rest on the MDX this weekend.

Here is the description:
Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0 is a permanent coating that protects automotive paint over its lifetime! Unlike a wax or sealant, Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0 will not wash or wear off. It acts as a second layer of clear coat which provides increased protection against the elements. Formerly only available to professionals, Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0 is now available to the public in a more user-friendly formula. Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0 is a clear resin coating, much like the clear coat that already exists on your vehicle. And just like your factory clear coat, Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0 is meant to be permanent! Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0 can be applied to all exterior surfaces. It is not recommended for glass since improper application can affect visibility. For other exterior surfaces, Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0 is a highly effective, transparent protective coating. Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0 can be applied to: painted surfaces headlights wheels plastic trim bumpers aluminum & chrome surfaces Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0 is an additional barrier between the elements and your vehicle's paint. The paint will retain its color and contaminants will be blocked out to keep the paint smooth and clean. Unlike waxes and paint sealants that require frequent reapplication, Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0 provides constant, unyielding protection for the life of your vehicle's finish!

Does this product provide UV protection also? I put the 3M clear bra on my headlights just for that reason; but, it can be $$$ for 3M.

I've had OptiCoat on my cars for several years now and love the stuff. It does NOT replace a clearbra because it is more like a wax than an applied product. OC bonds permanently to the paint and can only be removed mechanically.

I have clearbra and clear material on the headlights. OC is a great addition to that.

I drive a gray TSX wagon that I bought in October. I clearbra'd amd OC'd it two days later. Preparation is key because any surface imputies will stay there for years to come.

Since October, I've washed my car once and it looks great. During the winter I rinsed it off a couple of times using the spray wand at the carwash but it din't see a mitt or soap until last weekend. A good rain will "wash" the car.

To do it right takes a full day of prep and application. I cleaned and polished, added the clearbra then OC'd the whole car - including the bra, windows and mirrors. I also OC'd the door jambs that would get really crummy looking in my old TSX - they look like new.

Ceb is absolutely right. Not a replacement for clear bra. I haven't washed it yet. I will keep you updated. It's supposed to offer more UV protection. Don't forget the roof. Mine had a weird haze on it from the plastic film. Had to use cleaner sealant to get it off.
