Operate without FOB

Just curious, how long can I drive my RDX 2017 without having a FOB in the vehicle? I got in the vehicle without a FOB then switched to be the driver as the then initial driver left with the FOB. I did not realize the vehicle now had no FOB when it starting to beep with a message on the dashboard. I was wondering if I could drive to the end of the parking lot, but decided to call the initial driver to pass me the FOB. Thanks.

I've been in that same situation where I would let the wife off at some store and then I would go run an errand; but quickly finding out that she had the key FOB and I did not. I did drive many miles and drove through a McDonalds and then drove back. Obviously if I had shut off the car, that would be a mistake. I don't think there is a limit or such on how far or how long you can drive. The safety and liability of having the vehicle shut off would be too high.

Crashmaster is correct. Have driven many miles without the key fob (not intentionally) - it is used for recognition and starting.

Thanks Crashmaster for your reply, and it is good to know someone has tried it unintentionally anyway.

You can try it out yourself my taking the battery out of the key fob after starting (so that you have no stress of getting stranded).

Simply replacing the batteries shouldn't require any reprogramming at all.
