Oil burn/Cost Cutting

I just changed the oil in the 2013 RDX and found that it was short 1 quart of oil after ~3000 miles. The MDX was short 2 quarts of oil, which didn't cause much concern because of how new the car is (break in period oil burning). Although I didn't think much of it, I asked around in the MDX section and someone said that the oil was probably low to begin with and that Acura dealerships feel that it isn't important to completely fill it. I have never brought a car into a dealership for an oil change, but this being the factory fill, I see my concern is right. I advise everyone to check their oil level to make sure you have the appropriate amount. Whether it is the fault of the dealership or just the initial break in period is still up for debate. I just want the job done right.

always check your oil level when you buy a car, or after service.

I've learned my lesson. I do oil changes myself, so I know the job is done right.

Just curious what brand of oil did you use.My rdx is getting close to 3000 miles, level has not gone down yet.I check it often due to my 08 accord with 3.5 using oil for the first 30,000 miles.I have been shopping for oil,Mobil 1 0w20 full syn is available at Walmart in 5qt jug for $26.My dealer will change oil(mobil1)wash and vacuum for 50 bucks.
