OEM splash guards
OEM splash guards
I was looking for a car project over the holidays and stumbled on the OEM slash guards for my RDX. After I ordered them I kind of had buyers remorse, at $112 I though why did I do that. Once I received them and opened the package I thought these are kind of small, but they were well built and solid as a rock and came with all the mounting hardware. Well that kept me busy for about 1 hour and once mounted I thought, that is not much of a splash guard, a normal person probably wouldn't even notice them.
What they do provide is an almost hermetic seal between the fender, wheel well liner and the lower rocker panel at both the the front and the back. No debris or moisture will be able to migrate up behind the fender and wheel well. In Colorado we don't have a rust problem but in states where you have salt on the roads or gravel and mud these would be a functional addition to the car.

If those are the factory items, then I have the same ones. I live where there is plenty of snow and salt. Of course I also use Krown rustproofing.
When I installed my guards, they wrap around with one edge pressed against the paint of the fender. The last thing I want is grit getting between the two surfaces. So I made a template and cut out some 3M PPF that extends 3/8" past the guards.

Beautiful. Thanks for the response.
Now I have to go through the guilt and pain that you did. The price has gone up some more (big surprise) for four small pieces of plastic! One place even lists them as out of production for my car.

No drilling required. A right angle #2 phillips ratchet driver "YANKEE" makes it easy... that way you don't have to turn the wheels.
