Noob with questions--Acura RDX
Just picked up a brand new 2013 RDX (AWD w/tech), my first Acura. Also just found this website.
First, I've read that a few people mention a repair or maintenance manual. Is this different from the ones they sell at auto parts store (like Chilton)? If so, where would I come by one? (And of course I don't know if any of these are available for my car yet, either.)
Also, is this the right area of this forum to post this? Seems like I saw a lot of threads that didn't--on the surface--seem to focus on Acura.
Anyone in Southern California deal with maintenance yet--just wondering how the costs compare with other makes. My other car is a Mini Cooper, and the dealer maintenance costs are nothing short of shocking (to me, at least). $190 for an oil change? (I know it's synthetic, but that's still about $50 at Pep Boys.) And at 60,000 miles, the dealer is suggesting a service (not repair, it runs fine) that will run $1300. Just so you see why I'm curious about the Acura.
Thanks, and being new here, sorry if I broke an rules here--I know forums can have a lot of rules that are easy to break for the newbies.

Congrats on your purchase. There is a dedicated RDX forum if you look at the top tabs above. Specifically for the 2nd Gen RDX.
Regarding your manual, yes there is a specific factory full service manual that you can purchase online or through your dealer. Since it is a brand new model it may not be in print just yet...
I would look through yelp or the SoCal section of the forums and find a reputable shop that way if you do not want to pay dealer prices.
Enjoy the car!

Hi Mike....Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new purchase. You made a wise decision by getting of these fine vehicles. You will find that your maintenance costs will be less than a mini that's for sure. Acura's are also very reliable and hold their value quite nicely with time.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask and make sure you post your pictures in the photo section. What color did you get by the way?

Thanks for the welcome. As for pics, can't post any yet as my membership is still probationary. (Gotta keep the spammers at bay.) Ours is white. It was the clear winner for us, although I like the dark gray too.

By the way, we started dead set on a Honda CRV, and thought we just had to settle on a color, which was hard right now since most 2012s are gone and they have/had relatively few 2013s in stock, and we couldn't find all the colors. (My wife is 9+ months pregnant, so we couldn't just drive from dealer to dealer.) We decided while we waited for stocks to build up, we'd consider other options since it had been about 6 months since we first decided on the CRV (and waited for employment issues to be settled before we dove into a new car purchase). We really liked the Kia Sorrento (top end model, loaded) more than anything else we saw. Then, Sunday two weeks ago, we're walking through a parking lot and saw a 2013 RDX. That afternoon I drove one. That night she drove one. We decided that night. Monday night, I bought one. That quick. No regret.
