Michelin Tire Warranty Claim Success

So our Primacy MXM4's wore down to 5/32nds within 27k miles. Even wear all around and followed the Acura rotating and recommended pressures.

Acura dealership didn't want to mess with a mileage warranty claim. I called Michelin and they confirmed the 55k mile warranty (which is a little iffy on OEM tires). They actually sent me to Discount Tire. Took about ten minutes to get a prorated 65% of cost on a new set.

Lots of rain/snow/sleet in NC in the past month and I'm sure glad we had full depth tires!

Just and FYI for any quick wearing sporty drivers out there.

juice13 - mine are the same! I'm at 5/32nds at 26k. What did you say to Michelin? I've never made a warranty claim before, so I don't know what I'd say beyond normal driving, properly inflated, and doing rotation/balances. Was there a lot of pushback on their part? And can you go to anywhere else, or just Discount tire.
Thanks for the post

Seems low for Michelin tires. I usually get about 60,000 miles plus out of mine. It takes a few years as I also have snow tires.

It was the third Michelin representative that pointed us toward Discount tire. We tried Sears as well before and they didn't want to mess with the warranty. So I think it depends on the shop.

Michelin was nothing but nice about the whole thing. Discount tire took care of the return tire DOT numbers, warranty paper work etc. Even received the $70 Michelin rebate on the new set of tires!

I'd call around, but as Michelin directly mentioned Discount Tire, they must know the procedure pretty well.

Good luck!

+1 for discount tire

IMHO Michelin tires provide good traction but they wear fast

Well, we can now give some good feedback on the Michelin MXM4s. We love them, they just wear quickly. How quickly you ask? Very.

The warranty claim set of tires only lasted 18,000 miles this time to get to 4/32nds. Perfect even wear once again. Religiously kept 33 psi (real gauge pressure) and rotated as per Acura's maintenance schedule.

Discount Tire again filed the warranty claim and the tires were prorated from $200 to $80 a piece (excluding the usual fees).

Dare I say this may have something to do with our driving style? At this rate we expect a Michelin representative to ask us to stress test their new tire design.

I didn't care for the OEM Michelins from the first day...noisy, lack of wet and dry grip, IMO. At 36K miles, they were down to 3/32", so I went to Discount Tire for some Goodyear Assurance replacements. I had previously put that tire on our '10 XC60 and '11 C70 and enjoyed the tires from the first outing. Traded both vehicles in less than a year, however; so no long term test.

I'm very pleased with the Goodyears @ $150 ea. Much quieter...much!

Glad you were able to get an adjustment...sorry you had to get an adjustment.

Long ago I gave up on Michelin Primacy MXM4's. Went to Continental LX-20 all seasons....and they have been great. Wear MUCH better than the Mich. and are quiet, smooth, and are great in snow and ice. And a big plus...much cheaper than the Mich. Been using Contis on all my cars the past few years.

They also have the recessed bead...so your wheel sits in deeper to give better protection for your wheels. Overall Tire Rack has rated them higher than the OEM Mich. And the proof for me is my experience over the past 3 yrs with them.

I would love to hear how hard you guys drive your cars. We got just over 50,000 on our OEM's before replacing them. Picked out a set of Perelli Scorpion Verde All Season Plus's.

Initial review is quieter, and ride a little better. They have a 70K warranty, so hopefully we get 60-65000 out of them.

Tire rack had a great deal on them, plus an additional $60 rebate. Took them to Mr. Tire and had them put on for $20 per tire.

I certainly don't push the RDX through the corners like the C70; but we have plenty of 65mph roads around here dotted with traffic signals every few miles. Not a lot of jack-rabbit starts or stops for me, either. Lots of heat, however; with plenty of 100 degree days during the summers(plenty!) if that makes a big difference.

I'm afraid my past MO might be resurfacing...Only have 1000 miles on the new Goodyears and I'm looking seriously at the new vehicles available. Last two vehicles got new tires and we ended up trading the '10XC60 and '11 C70 before the tires were paid off!!! Somebody STOP me!!! I wouldn't mind putting a FEW thousand miles on the new tires before I trade again!

36,000 miles and at 6/32nds. So I can't complain. Rotate and alignment check every service and watch pressure every fill up.
