A Little Early but Eyeing an RDX Replacement
Before any hate gets thrown my way, let me state I have been more than pleased w/ my '13 FWD w/ tech.
A few things I would like different but veh. perfection does not exist in this world (IMO) so I may stay w/ a 2015/16 RDX when the time comes, you never know.
The above said, Porsche's new Macan REALLY has my attn., albeit we don't have much more than a few pics & some speculative information. Has anyone else taken note of it or perhaps looking @ a different/same replacement veh. for their current RDX?

What little I've seen of the Macan looks good, but I don't know when it might make it to market. And it will undoubtedly have Porsche's pricing, so it might be more than I'd want to pay.
I agree it does look interesting, though.

What is your goal? Trading every two or three years barely gives you time to know the car. Is there anything in particular you are looking for? Just something different, something more sporty, more prestige, etc. I haven't thought about trading yet. My average is about six years between trades. My last car was 2001 MDX. I traded for my 2013 AWD Tech 11 years later. Anyway, good luck in your quest, Jim

I really like the new X3 myself.....

Based on the current Q5 chassis but with Porsche-exclusive engines and styling, it should prove to be both handsome and a good performer. The anticipated base price of around $52k for the 3.0 turbo seems quite reasonable, but in typical Porsche fashion you can expect the options to be very pricey. I believe the 3.6L turbo is expected to start around $75k. I think it's fair to say you can plan to spend a lot more on service and maintenance as well.

^^ but the rear styling is just hideous .... in my opinion of course

There's definitely a little Panamera in that squished rearend. Of course, some people find that look "elegant". I will admit the Panamera looks better in the metal than it does in photos, but I'd still never buy one. The tail lights on the Macan test mule are clearly fake, but the car was caught track testing so the C-pillar and sheetmetal should be what we'll ultimately get in production form. If I were in the market for a "performance" crossover, I'd lean toward the SQ5 or new Range Rover Sport. Or maybe just wait for the Jag crossover. Now that's elegant.

I hate the rear end of the Macan and the price, Hybrid RDX might be a reality in 2015, other model I have my eye on is the new Audi Q3 in 2015, good price and will have a twin clutch trans.

Get a real SUV Toyota Landcruiser! If were talkin CUV then the RDX would be pick of the litter. I've owned 911,928S4,944. Porsches are sports cars and they are big $ to service. To me the Porsche CUV are frankin vehicles, a kind of fast sedan that sits higher off the ground and is made to go to the Mall.

I would love to see Acura release a "sport" RDX (SH - AWD) that has the MDX's more powerful engine (290 hp and 267 torque), Sport suspension, sport handling, a sport ehaust (show the dual exhaust pipes that were taken away in the 2013 redesign), bigger tires (19 in with a 20 in upgrade option), and upgraded rims. This could probably be offered for about $3000-$4000 above the current prices.
When competing with the Audi Q5 3.0 (272hp and 290 torque), BMW X3 3.0 (300hp and 300 torque), Infiniti qx50 3.7 (325 hp and 267 torque), and Mercedes GLK 3.5 (302hp and 273 torque) for customers you need to have a similarly powerful engine. The Porsche mentioned above is probably more powerful but it will also run over 50k since Porsche is a high end Audi which is already high end. Jaguar is also trying to be in the Porsche market above the Audi market.
To me this is where Acura is missing out. They have nice cars but are set up for the mass market of buyers with few model options. Where The BMWs and Audi's offer a couple of different engines along with M sport and I sport options Acura only has the SH AWD which is not as much a step up like the M Sport, AMG, or I Sport upgrades.
I would like to see Acura adopt a line up as follows:
ILX Base - for basic small car luxury buyer
ILX hybrid with new Accord engine - for luxury hybrid buyer
ILX SH Awd (Sport) - to compete for Infiniti G37, Lexus IS, and BMW 3 series
TLX Base - with strong base engine (270+ hp and 250+ torque)
TLX hybrid with new RLX performance hybrid engine (next year) - to compete with Q50 hybrid
TLX SH AWD (Sport) - to compete with the AMG, M Sport, F Sport, And I Sport options from the competition
RLX Base - current models
RLX Hybrid - next year's performance version of the hybrid
RDX Base - current models
RDX Hybrid - Accord hybrid engine for 2015 (maybe RLX hybrid in 2016 or 2017)
RDX SH AWD (Sport) - to compete with the performance hybrids from competitors (see commentary above)
MDX - current models

HotRodW.....I agree 150%!! That Jag SUV/CUV is just stunning and would be one vehicle I would be delighted to have in my driveway

I too really like the RDX, but I don't love it. It does what I expected, the AWD just leaves me cold, moderate acceleration in a curve, especially in the rain, the back end does not plant, it drifts, maybe if it had SH AWD, I would love it. I too, am already eyeing it's replacement, SQ5, Macan, who know's? I like everything about the RDX, peppy, good gas mileage, handling, meh.

the Macan engine will be at least 340 hp with the turbo around 400 hp. Acura is not offering a similar performance engine but if they did I would guess the RDX price would be much higher too.
For example: the RLX performance hybrid will have an engine with at least 350 hp. That engine in the RDX is probably a $7k-10k price increase if not more.

Another Macan Watcher Perhaps?
Dimcorner I knew we would finally get to see it & have intial models available w/ prices once the LA show started this week.
Think I will pass on the Turbo but the S may just get me back into a Porsche, it's only been 28yrs. since I had my 911 so ........

Lincoln MKC looking mighty fine, can't wait for the reviews - Makes the RDX looks like its still in the stone-age in terms of technology.
Hopefully it won't be plagued by all the problems the Escape is having.

@ ericok I might have to agree w/ you once I get eyes on one in the flesh, time will tell. The turbo & S models being all we can buy in 2014 may cause me to wait until the 2015 model year but the RDX 2015 new features (if any of consequence) will also factor in.
@ Shrike while I will agree w/ you re. the lack of REAL tech in my '13 tech RDX I just can't get my head around a Lincoln but that is just my simple mind @ work here. Also being an old GM fella, a CTS would have to sub for me in lieu of an MKC if I went back to a domestic CUV.
@ Dimcorner my optioned S Macan was right there in the mid $60s like you, see my comments above re. waiting for other Macan model choices to be available in 2015.

Idle surge when shifting out of Park that seems like something is wrong, poor BlueTooth sound quality and spending a week with a loaner 13 RDX with 11K on the clock (It hasn't aged well), poor stereo reception and overall sound quality, poor Nav interface....Not to mention the less-than-satisfactory dealer response.... At this point, they can have the thing back in 2 years and 10 months. Last Acura I'll have in my garage. My S60 is cheaper and it's better designed with better quality materials. Flame away but this is my opinion so far.

Even the keyfob is cheaply made. Why!? It costs that much more to use better plastic on the key?! It's something I look at and hold in my hand every day. Why "mail" this aspect of the car in?
