Im curious about thoughts on buying a previously leased RDX. It is $16980 before taxes and everything with about 80k miles.

 

Hi Ryan, There are no red flags that I can see on that Carfax, but there is important periodic maintenance for the RDX that is not listed. Transmission fluid exchanges, transfer case fluid, and differential fluid should all be replaced periodically. The specific intervals are tracked on a service in indicator in each vehicle, but those fluids should all be replaced about every 30k miles. All service is not reported to Carfax, though, so just because they are not on Carfax does not mean the service was not completed.

Does the carfax not showing everything you mentioned provide me with any negotiating power?

 

You could certainly try negotiating with that gap in maintenance history. At a minimum, you should be able to get them to change those fluids so you are starting with fresh fluids. If you go that route, I would also ask for a replacement of brake fluid - it should be done every 3 years regardless of mileage.
