Front brake discs - recommendation
Hi,
Can you tell me which front brake discs are now recommended for 2G RDX?
According to the service bulletin 19-09 45251-TX4-A01 discs are replaced by 45251-TX4-A50 discs (with 45022-TX4-305) - http://www.urvi.net/forumfiles/SB/B19-009.PDF
but for the ILX model the same discs are replaced by 45251-T2F-A82 discs (with 45022-T3R-A01 pads) - http://www.urvi.net/forumfiles/SB/B16-004.PDF

I don't have RDX specific advise, but on the other, heavier Honda's, like Odysseys, Pilots, MDXs, Centric coated rotors are the fix that sticks.
Many have had the newer spec factory rotors installed and found them warped quite soon anyway. On my Odyssey, I also used Akebono pads.
By the way, these rotors rarely actually warp. What happens is pad material gets deposited unevenly on the rotor surface, causing a shake
when braking, especially at high speed. Here is a strategy you can do to help keep this from happening: when you have to brake from high speed
long and hard, try to stop a little short of the line. Slowly creep, taking your foot off the brake repeatedly. The goal is to not keep the very hot pads
sticking to the same spot on very hot rotors.

I always used factory Honda parts including brake discs and pads on my old CR-V and considering our harsh winters, I got 5 years out of them.
Jobbers I have no use for. I have used Zimmermann discs and Textar pads on my previous car...a VW Jetta TDI. They were good quality and made in Germany.
