Fog light LED conversion

Has anyone tried putting LED lights in place of stock fog lamps? I see that many have done it in the TL / TSX sections. If anyone has done it can you post some information. I understand it's only an appearance mod.Thanks.

I haven't done an LED conversion, but converted my wife's to HID's. I went with 5000k bulbs to match the Osram CBI headlights I replaced. This way you get the an appearance mod with extra lighting

I've done it. I switched out all my exterior lights to LED except for the turn signals, the front side markers and the HIDs of course.

I've been planning to take pictures for several months and post, but I'm just too lazy to do it. I got a pair of 50W H11 from ijdmtoy, but honestly, I will never buy from them again. Just go to ebay and find a 50W H11 CREE from China and you can buy 2 of them for the price that ijdmtoy charges. I've bought some defective stuff from ijdm. No conversion required. Directions for changing all the bulbs are in your manual. 10 min job for both fog lights.

Awesome. Would love to see some pictures though. So how many lights did you end up changing? Are all of them just plug and play? How much did it cost you? Thanks.

I'll see if I can post some pics this weekend.
But I really like the fogs on. They are equally as bright as the HIDs and are even whiter as the HIDs have a yellow tinge to them.
It's just fun to stand out a bit from the sea of RDXs.

I did the DRLs, fogs, rear brakes, high mount brake, license plates, reverse and rear markers. The cost was somewhere in the $100-$120 CAD range. I did buy from different places so shipping costs will differ.

Thanks. Those lights from GT lighting look sweet. I hope they are just plug and play. Would they void any kind of warranty if used?

I personally have no idea why, but your local dealer may feel otherwise.

Can I ask a few questions on this thread as well?

I was reading an older thread on here where some were saying that the DRL cannot be replaced with LED because 1. they are running off a partial voltage and 2. they are the same bulbs used for the brights (two different circuits into the same light).

Is it now possible to do this?

I also was a little disappointed certain lights were not LED as well. What did you use for over the license plate? and about the rear brake lights and back up lights? It's a straight drop in, no issues ?

I'm also looking forward to any pictures..

Has anyone done any lights inside the cabin? Notably the room dome light and door lights? (the above dash ones appear to be LED already? (and do we know what temp or brand will match as closely as possible to these?)
how wonky of a car manufacturer do you have to be to use partial LED's partial Incan's...???? Thanks acura!

Sure you can...
I think not just Acura but the majority of premium cars use a combination of LEDs and incandescents. The only car I know of which uses LED exclusively throughout interior and exterior is the new Mercedes "S" class. It uses nearly 500 LED bulbs in total.
From their website http://www.mbusa.com/vcm/MB/DigitalA...14-S-Class.pdf
(Beacon. Without a single bulb. Nearly 500 LEDs provide every traditional interior and exterior lighting function with greater effect and efficiency, while introducing new elements of safety, new feelings of security, and new expressions of style.)

Imagine someone replacing those LEDs one by one....

ahh true true.. I wasn't sure I thought it was just acura taking a cheap rout.. its weird cuz i'll see HONDAS that look STOCK with DLR LED lights.. but still our RDX's don't get it? I think even MDX does... so I figured they cut corners on the RDX to get it cheaper.. otherwise if it was almost as expensive as the MDX everyone would just get the MDX...

Good to know .. I'll still be interested for a 'closest match possible' led replacement solution for the door lights, dome light, and license plate light.. That match the map lights that is.

Modern electrical systems in cars are quite fragile. LEDs, halogens, HIDs and conventional bulbs all have different electrical requirements, so replacing one with another could cause issues.

The dealer could deny warranty service on nearly any electrical failure and it would be up to you to prove that your mods didn't cause the problem - just ask the guy who painted his sidemarker bulbs on his Jetta because removing them caused an error light. $2500 later he had his car running again.

While many people run LEDs without issues, you must be mentally and fiscally prepared to pay for any damage caused by the mod.

If, for whatever reason (remote) you did have a problem just put all the original bulbs back in before making a warranty claim.
