Fluid Changes

Having now owned my 2015 RDX for 1 year , I'm having to ask a question. Purchased the car with 25 k miles on her and at 30k miles I had the fluids changed such as transmission , rear diff and the all wheel drive control box. I'm now getting close to 60k miles and wondering if this all needs t0 be done again. Could be right expensive driving a car 30k miles a year and having to make all these fluid changes each year. Any input app

I'm not an expert on the 2G RDX but for any Honda product, I'd suggest changing the transmission fluid more frequently than the maintenance schedule recommends. I'd suggest a drain/refill at least every 20K miles. This is assuming you want to keep the vehicle a long time. If not, just go for the standard maintenance schedule.

As far as the diff and AWD control box - those could probably just be on the regular schedule.

^regardless of make and model, I always change tranny fluid at 30k intervals on my family cars.

It's CHEAP insurance to keep the cars running as long as possible.

Have driven as a traveling salesman for the last 35 years. All the cars I have owned I pushed them well into the 300k mile area with never a transmission or engine giving up the ghost. I changed out all the fluids at around 100k miles and never had a problem, but this 30k mile idea is a bit outside the line. Guess what will be will be , but once every years seems like it's a bit overboard.

Keep in mind that when changing the fluid in a Honda automatic, the normal drain & fill called for only replaces approx. 1/3 of the fluid. The interval used to be every 45k, but Honda has made that every 30k
in their newer vehicles. Those in the know (and every Honda mechanic on their own cars) change the fluid every other oil change. If dyi, the trans fluid change is actually easier than changing the oil.
Always use a new crush washer. Drain plug 36 lb/ft, fill plug 33 lb/ft
