First Oil Change

First Oil Change
5 Months in and about 6k miles and A1 Service (15%) in on for oil change. Is this the typical time to do the first oil change for the RDX? Thought it would be more like 7-8k mikes?

Depends on your driving patterns , it's not unheard of

You're fine. Unless you have some warranty issues to address, try calling a few Honda dealers for pricing. Ask for prices for an oil change and a tire rotation - not an A1 service. At my dealer, the A1 is $129 and the oil change is $59 with $20 for the tire rotation. The standard oil change gets you the same checks as the A service.
All modern Hondas and Acuras use the same oil filters and 0-20 oil. The techs go to the same training but the labor and parts are cheaper. Honda dealers can't do any warranty work on Acuras (and vice versa) because they can't bill - except in extreme instances (breakdown and no dealer nearby).

If I owned rather than leased,I'd change the oil the first time at around 3500 miles.Always have and it's a feel good thing. Then every 6K or so.
Leasing,I'll wait till 5% or 0%.

I will wait it out. I had to add a quart of oil at 5k so I think it is still pretty fresh. Should be a 10k or so change. I bought the service plan with the car so I suspect they won't do it until I am down to 10% anyway.

Yes- it was a quart low at 5k. I didn't check it when we picked the car up so I don't know if it was low from the beginning, or if the car burns oil. I will be checking it regularly. I know many Honda's have oil consumption issues and I hope mine isn't one of them. I know Audi says 1qt per 1-2000 miles is acceptable on the 2.0T motors...

The "industry standard" is anything more than a quart every 1k miles is excessive. That is a ridiculous standard but virtually all manufacturers have adopted it - even after Consumer Reports slammed that. The problem with CR is that they said that no amount of oil loss is acceptable - that just isn't right either. As engines age, or depending on driving style and conditions, engines will burn some oil.
My personal opinion is that a quart or so between extended interval oil changes is fine.
Oh, and to answer a question from above. With the service plan, the dealer will do the service as soon as it pops up at 15%. The dealer won't get paid if they do it earlier. I was at 20% a week before I went on my 1900 mile trip so I had to drive off a tank of gas to get to that 15% - at 49857 miles. At this point I figure I have one more service left. The last one was an A1 so the next should be a B(something).I've never seen a Honda OCI well past 8000 miles so 10k is very unlikely. The percentage isn't linear. As you drop below 40% it goes faster and faster. The difference between 5% and 0% is a tank of gas.

I'm about 2K into my first oil change and don't believe I need to add any yet. I check periodically. No low windshield washer fluid warning so have to open the hood anyway :-).
