FinalCoat DNA

I have recently picked up a new RDX and noticed it came with this security protection package.
Is this normal for all North American models or is it specific to Canadians.

Never heard of it. I did buy an option called "Express Code" that has labels and uv "etching" on windows and various other major parts that has a code to identify the car.

I like how these things purport to "protect your vehicle from theft". They don't do anything to actually protect against theft - they simply help identify your car as being yours AFTER the theft has taken place (and assuming the car was recovered). The very fact the "dots" are not visible makes the protection factor nil ... they would provide more protection against theft if they WERE visible.

I personally would not pay for this kind of "protection". In the event my vehicle is ever stolen, I frankly do not want it back. It's probable that it would be trashed, and it would probably be to my advantage that it is never recovered or identified as being mine.

^^^ I agree 150% If someone steals my car, I don't want it recovered...whoever takes it would treat it like crap and more often than not, they trash the hell out of them. It would be even worse if they stole it on a rainy night....

I believe there is a small decal on each window that indicates this feature has been applied. That might deter a thief? I agree, if you steal it, I don't want it back.

hmmm thats interesting. I need to find out if this option is specific to a dealer or perhaps a region, since the service provider is in greater Toronto area, or perhaps because its a leased vehicle and Acura finance pays for it. I did not pay for it, it just came with the car. There is a sticker on the window which will come off once I get the front windows tinted..lol
I personally do not pay for services like that since it will not stop the vehicle from being stolen however the extra insurance coverage is nice when needed.

That is exactly the "claim to fame" of the express code system. The idea is to prevent the theft. Probably will work with professional thieves, but not likely to prevent amateurs who just want a temporary ride.

I know this is a very old thread, but i wanted to correct a misconception. FINALCOAT DNA is not a theft protection system/device. It is for RUST protection. It is a small module that sends an electromagnetic pulse through the sheet metal of the entire car to protect it from rusting. Whether it works or not is debatable but my 2013 RDX has it and i don't have a single rust spot on my car which is now 12 years old. I am in Ontario/Canada where road salt is frequently used on roads during winter which is known to accelerate rust if left on the car body. I must admit that I don't use my RDX everyday and still has low kms on it (about 110,000Km or around 77,000Miles). I also take good care of it and wash it during winter whenever outside temps rise above freezing.

CORRECTION: I was wrong, checked the label carefully. IT IS A THEFT PROTECTION indeed.
