Door Edge Film
Did a wash & polish on my new RDX yesterday. One thing I noticed is that the door edge film that was installed upon delivery is in two parts on the front doors. The film extends down to the top of the body side molding and continues below it, leaving a blank spot where the molding is. Anyone else see it done this way?

Our Acura dealer did the hood and bumper - very happy with that job they did.

But what will protect the moulding ?!?!?!

Install instructions call for applying the film first and then the molding, and setting the molding a bit further out so it doesn't interfere with the film. The way it's done on my car would indicate the install was done out of proper order. The film is intended to be installed in one continuous strip. What will the dealer say?

The dealership probably didn't use the OE door film but some generic film and added it after the molding. Not easy to fix so I guess they'll have to give you some sort of refund.
The door edge film is a bit useless anyway. Anyone who adds the film is careful anyway and takes care not to ding up their own car. I only worry about the other people.

I have a set of the door edge film from Acura that I bought when we got the car. I decided not to install it partly because the door moldings were already in place. We had it on our CR-V and I'd have to agree with Ceb...probably not terribly useful. If anyone wants it, PM me & I'll make you a deal on it.

I just spoke with the dealer and Ceb's analysis is correct. They have someone who is "expert" at installing 3M products come in to do whatever jobs they have for 3M product. My problem is that I requested, paid for, and was assured I would receive OEM product.

They can't properly install the OE stuff without removing the side molding and that will go badly.
Just tell them to give you a refund AND something else - a free service or some bauble you wanted from the parts catalog.

It's very useful on our RDX, as our detached garage is fairly narrow. When the kid opens the rear passenger door towards the wall, he hits it every time.

He balked at my suggestion that a refund was in order and later caved in. I think trying for a value added solution (free oil change?) might be overkill. Maybe I can "bribe" him a bit since the CSI has yet to be filled out.

The door edge guards work for our situation.
