Does RDX read texts?

I would like to know if anyone has been able to get text messages to be read via Bluetooth. Even though I don't read or answer text while in a car, I'm intrigued by the option of listening to text messages in the RDX. When I try to engage it says that the phone if not compatible with text function. It's an iPhone...... Really ....? Who's the problem here, Acura or Apple?
As I mentioned before, it's not a big deal for me but would be cool to have that function. Thanks.

It will read them if you are not in "Park", Otherwise, they will come up on the screen. I have a Samsung Galaxy III and had to go into the settings in the car, and/or the phone. I think it had to do with "SMS" settings. I'm sure an Apple store can walk you through it.

The car has several "pre-programmed" responses you can use. I'd love to be able to program a few of my own.

My 2016 reads the text messages but it's unable to send them. I have an iPhone 5s.
It depends on the compatibility of your phone with the Handsfreelink.
Check this website
HandsFreeLink | Acura.com

Also, on your Apple phone go to settings-bluetooth
click on the little info button on car device (handsfreelink) and make sure the "Show Notifications" is on.

You can use Siri eyes free to send text.

iPhone...you must remember (this 3-4 years in even some dealers don't understand) is that you have to turn on the Text Notifications from your iPhone.

Pair the iPhone. When connected, go into your Settings and Bluetooth list. Click the blue "I" beside "HandsFreeLink" and turn on "Show Notifications". Reset the Bluetooth by Turning On & Off and you will now have texting. If Show Notifications isn't on, texting will never show up.

The iPhone does everything then, but does not allow the cars 6 canned reply messages to be sent backwards through it. They will fail. You can always Siri reply.

When driving, the message alert will pop up and read out loud without showing you the text of the message. If sitting still, parked, it will show you the text on the screen.

Thank you guys. Yes, I found out that my "show notifications" was set to "off" position. I turned it "on". Hopefully all will be fine now. Cheers .

OK .. It seems to be reading texts even though temperamental at times. I'll give it a pass.

I have a Nokia Windows phone and I can choose to hear texts as they are received. I'm also able to reply by speaking the response and having the phone send it. This is more a function of the phone, not the car, because I'm able to do that with a regular BT headset as well. It goes something like this:

RDX mutes audio and says: You have a text message from so-and-so. Would you like to read it or ignore it?

I speak (without pressing anything, not even the Talk button on the steering wheel) : Read.

RDX - reads the message and then says: Would you like to reply, call back, or are you done?

I say (again, not pressing anything): Reply.

RDX: OK - please speak your reply.

I speak the response.

RDX speaks it back and asks if I want to send, cancel, or say it again.

I say: Send.

And the text is sent. The voice system is actually pretty good with automatically inserting punctuation, question marks, etc.

Whoever said Windows phones are not as good as Apple or Android...
