Did anyone consider a 3G RDX before buying a CPO 2G?
Like the title says, I am wondering whether anyone considered a third generation RDX before purchasing a CPO second generation. I am currently looking at another number of certified preowned RDXs and my biggest concern with the third generation are the noise concerns expressed on this forum.
Is the second generation RDX more luxurious and quieter than the third generation?

So I leased a 2020 RDX A-spec last October... by March, I was fed up with all the issues that everyone else was having (glitchy tech, brakes squealing, rattling throughout cabin). I traded it for a Civic Si and searched for a used RDX until I came across what I ended up purchasing, a 2016 RDX Advance. It is definitely not more luxurious. The design is now old school with the dual screens, the interface is clunky, the interior looks low rent even compared to my 2018 CR-V (which the 2020 RDX replaced) and there is more road noise even compared to the CRV let alone the 2020. The transmission in the 2016 is just okay, and the AcuraWatch is inferior to the CRV’s - LKA bounces from right to left and the adaptive cruise control stops working under a certain speed, however would come to a complete stop in my CRV. Looking back, I would have dealt with the 2020 RDX if it wasn’t a lease (I couldn’t get over paying for something that wasn’t going to be mine) and the only saving grace for the 2016 RDX was the smooth v6 and excellent fuel economy it provides, as well as an offer to purchase that I couldn’t refuse. I get about 30mpg around Texas highways and in the 2020 I was lucky to get 24... with very restrained driving. At the end of the day, I regret the fact that my 2018 got flooded
. If I had to do everything again, I would get a 2020 RDX advance vs the A Spec, as a purchase.

Burning Brakes
It is exactly why I bought a 2G 2017 RDX. I heard that the new model 3G would be out in 2018 which of course was a year off.

Advanced
I bought a 2018 CPO rather than a new 2019 for a few reasons. First, I wanted a naturally aspirated six cylinder engine rather than a four with a turbo--I have not had great experiences with a turbo. Second, I didn't want so many speeds on the transmission, as it seemed to be shifting all the time. The 2018 had fewer things to go wrong. I know I gave up some style and some features, but I was fine with that.
Buying any new model early in the manufacturing cycle can be something of a risk. I was coming from a car that had needed constant and costly repair, and I wanted durable and reliable. So far, so good with the 2018.
