Dash airvents

Does anyone know that part number for the chrome / aluminum trim surrounding the air vents in the 2016+ RDX? I really like that feature and I'm wondering if available, can this be retrofitted to my 14 RDX dash vents. Would like to know if those pieces are removable at all though. Thanks guys.

I can't answer your question, but you might want to read this thread in which many people express their dislike with the chrome trim.

Comfy, I'm looking seriously at a 2017 and would be willing to swap if they are easily removable. I personally like the German minimalist look to the chrome bling.

Thanks for the info. I've seen that thread earlier, and I checked out a few 16+ RDXs also, but couldn't figure out why some people hate it. I don't have a problem with it. It looks so solidly fixed that removing it might be a problem. The only place where I see a hole is at the inside of the bezel at the top. Has anyone actually removed it by themselves? I don't want to be the guinea pig to poke it and scratch it.

If you look at the parts diagrams on a site like oemacuraparts.com you see that the vent trim is in integral part of the vent unit itself, and not just a trim piece you can snap on. You need to snap out the entire vent assembly. Cost appears to be in the $15-20 range for each one. Just do a search for the 16,17 model years - same dimensions as the 13,14,15 model years, just different trim....

I've gotten used to ignoring the reflection on our '17 Advance; however, would have preferred that they be black versus the chrome to not have that annoying reflection at all. I think ours is emphasized more by the front window tint we did, too.

They do look nice; however, given the choice, I'd pass on them due to the reflection.

JMHO.

I noticed it a couple times but do not notice it now.

The reflection on the side windows is distracting on a sunny day. I would stay with the black vents.

I noticed it immediately the first day of ownership and it was really bothersome. A week later I didn't notice it any longer unless I really concentrated and focused my eyes on the window rather than the mirror..

It's kind of like the nose on your own face. You think you can't see your own nose, and yet when there is a bit of dirt on your nose you can see it. The reason is that you brain learns to ignore things that are there all the time and you only see the things that are out of the normal . I guess that my brain just leaned to ignore the reflection.

Update?

Is there an update on this? I’d like to apply vinyl to my vents but scared to remove them or install them back improperly.
