Braking 2014 Acura RDX Technology Pkg

I just recently got a used 2014 rdx from the dealership. I started to notice whenever I braked, there was a slight rumbling noise and I could feel it in the brake. Is that normal, or should I take it into the dealer?

Which I'm sure the dealer will be more than happy to point out.

I bought it used and I'm not sure if it has had its brakes replaced, is there any way to check that? Or should I just bring it into the Acura dealer to see what they say and bring up the notice?

Print the TSB and bring it with you. Ask about the airbag recall while you're there too.

Okay, thanks. And for future reference, is there a website where I can find any more service bulletins?

I was told by My Acura Dealer ,when My brakes were replaced, using that TSB,that the rotors rust sitting on the used car lot, causing the rotors to warp.

Yeah, I went it and the dealer told me that it might have been rust that was causing the problem. He said that the brakes were already replaced and after driving a couple of days, the noise should go away.

Seriously!

Op please explain the logic to me. Vibration caused by rust = old brakes that rusted causing vibration, I am trying to understand how new brakes without rust = causing vibration if they don't have rust and why a few days would make it go away?

Yeah, I was skeptical as well. But the dealer said that if the noise doesn't go away in a couple of days, I should go back. I'm pretty sure that he just says that because they don't want to go through the trouble of replacing them.

Then you need to make absolutely CERTAIN you go back in a few days and demand the problem be fixed. Dealers love playing the waiting game when you come in and hope if they wait you out, you will stop going. No keep going till it is fixed, be persistent.

Yeah, I will. It's been a few days and the noise is still there.

I'm with you this time as I'm experiencing the same squealing noise while braking. My dealer visit is next week. Will see how it goes.

It's not necessarily a squealing noise, it's more like a rumbling noise. My visit is in two days so hopefully I can get it sorted out.

Dave. How did your dealer visit go? They replaced my discs and pads.

I went to the dealership and they just resurfaced my brakes. Now the rumbling noise is gone. Were your brakes squealing or making the same type of noise mine was making?

Mine was making a high pitched squeal such as you would hear from a musical instrument like flute. There was no judder or grinding. The dealership repeatedly asked me about grinding noise but I said no. May be it would have been better if I had taken a video/ audio recording to help them out. My new discs look so shiny . I think either way they would have figured it out because they need drive it to determine the problem. I wish they gave me new discs :/ ... But I guess depending on the problem, they decide if you need new discs. Mine was a rumbling noise which was due to the rust, so they just shaved off the rust.

I'm actually noticing a vibration in the car when I'm traveling at 60-70mph on the highway after this recent disc replacement. Maybe it was there before but not prominent as much. It's is mot related to braking or acceleration but simply driving at speed. It drives fine on city roads. I've got an appointment to get it checked out. Will see what they say. The lady answering the phone thinks that tires need balancing.

It certainly is possible that they knocked off a wheel weight during the service....they also could have put the tires back on without putting them on the same wheels, and that might cause the vibration, too, as they did ok, let's say, on the back; however, cause a problem when switched around. Saw that occasionally when i ran a tire store....the vibes would start just over a tire rotation. It could also be that they over torqued some wheel nuts. slightly warping a wheel...saw that, occasionally, too..........hard to say; however, that re-balance is the best place to start...
