bogging down
bogging down
Hi,
We bought a 2013 RDX a few weeks ago. So far, I really like it, but I do have a few questions. I always have the MPG screen on, though that may be a mistake because I find myself driving slower than normal to get the MPG up!
Here is my question. I'll be driving along on a fairly flat stretch and the MPG is way up there. Then, without me noticing any changes, the MPG drops way down and the car seems to slowly bog down. After that, unless I'm very careful when trying to accelerate slightly, the car seems to drop down into a passing gear to get back up to speed. Is this due to the engine dropping from 6 cylinders to 3 cylinders and then getting bogged down at the slightest incline? If so, it seems like it defeats the purpose of increasing MPGs if the engine bogs down and has to rev fairly high to get back to the desired speed. I have not used the cruise control much, so perhaps that would help.
Thanks,
Gregg
