Any odd creaking in the RDX?
Am looking to possibly move from my 2008 Subaru STI to an end of model year 2013 RDX if i find sales and trade in prices acceptable to me.
Love the performance of the Intercooled turbo 4, advanced all wheel drive system all wrapped up in the utility of a hatchback design that my STI offers (sounds an awful lot like a Gen 1 RDX :-) )
Am essentially looking to trade away the performance edge of the STI and its somewhat rough around the edges industrial build for a more "premium" ride that the RDX offers.
On my STI you'd get intermittent creaking coming from the: rear hatch, retractable rear cargo cover, the "A" pillar, seat bracket squeaking.
To that end, I"m curious what, if any common creaks and groans that you've found with your 2nd Gen RDX (outside of the damper/shock assembly making the "thunking" noise and I believe some have noted wind noise on the outside mirrors).
Thx from a potential new RDX owner :-)

^^ quite honestly, besides the noise in the rear suspension, the RDX is quite tight and quiet. Even the wind noise, on my unit, there is none to speak of. That is not to say that all are quiet but from my perspective, that is all I can say about the noise.
Good luck with your new RDX if you do get one...its a great vehicle.....

I haven't had the suspension noise some mention, so I can't speak to that. I've mentioned the outside mirror wind noise myself, but note that it happens only in certain strong crosswind conditions ... and most vehicles have the same noise, as those mirrors are sticking out in the airstream.
All in all, though, my RDX is completely squeak and rattle free ... and I'm anal about that. I thought I had a rattle the other day and tracked it down to something I had in the console. LOL.
Both mine and the one I drove for a few days are tight as a drum. I don't think you'll find the RDX to be as "loose" as your Suby.

Thx Weather.
Am concentrating on a WHITE exterior like yours. Great minds think alike.
Meeting up with my dealer on Friday.
So..may be joining the ranks of you guys by next weekend :-)
Or..keep scooting around in my stealthy STI if it doesn't pan out.
Fun motoring either way :-)

My RDX is the quietest vehicle I have owned.
Your nickname makes me think you also owned a G35 at some point. My G35 felt louder than my old Corolla. Go figure that one out!

I've got a brand new 2013 with 2,400 miles so far. The only noise complaint I have is an intermittent, light creak in my center steering wheel, horn, airbag, etc when the chassis jars from a bump, dip, rough road. Its super annoying, but it is slight. I'm giving it some time to see if it goes away. I only noticed it in the last 400 miles or so.

Thanks All.. appreciate the useful feedback.

Yep..before the STI..I had a 2005 G35 Coupe/6MT model. Six speed manual, sport suspension, staggered 19" wheels, factory body kit. It was a sweet car just not highly practical :-).. The G did have a great exhaust tone..but makes sense as it was the "luxury/performance" twin to the Performance oriented 350Z.
Evidently I'm attracted to cars with 3 letter names lately :-)

My 2011 RDX has a very annoying creak/rattle in the driver side B pillar (possibly seat belt mechanism) right behind my head. Its super annoying. Might just be something that wasn't installed quite right. Been there since day one.
And I do get a creak somewhere in the tailgate when it starts getting warmer. Might just be because of our weather extremes here (-30ºC in the winter to +30ºC in the summer).
Other than that, its a nice quite ride so far.
