Adding the 2014 MDX to the fold

Picking up the 2014 MDX tonight. I secretly traded in my wife's 2011 Pilot on the RDX for her birthday. She hated it. No third row. Now I am trading in my beloved 4Runner on the MDX. We will be an all Acura family! Will take pics and post later. Any other RDX / MDX combo owner out there?

Is it a 14 RDX you traded for? Now please tell us your feedback about 14 MDX vs RDX. I am sure many potential buyers are interested . I am one of them.

If it wasn't for the Jewel-Eye's I can't tell them apart from a distance and I've had an RDX for 2 years now! Ok ok I can but it's a rather striking similarity.

Kareshi,

We picked up the MDX yesterday. It is so much nicer than the RDX. The interior, ride, refinement, technology is definitely worth spending the extra cash on the MDX. I will drive the RDX for the next couple of years because I don't want to take the depreciation hit but after spending some time in the MDX, I would rather drive that than the RDX. Even though it's a larger vehicle, the 0-60 as well as the MPG is the same as the RDX (on paper anyways). Hope this helps.

Thanks. How do you feel about the difference onhandling, seat comfortness, legrooms and cargo spaces?

Both vehicles handle really well. The RDX feels more nimble due to the obvious fact that it's smaller and weighs 300lbs less. Both of the seats are very comfortable but the MDX feels like it has more cushion and support. Surprisingly enough, the legroom is about the same. The MDX's width is 3"'s wider and you can really tell the difference inside. The MDX with the 3rd row folded down is huge. The RDX is fine (I think 26 cubic feet with 2nd row up) for everyday use. I would definitely take the MDX for a Costco shopping trip vs. the RDX though.

I'd hope the MDX is nicer. It's quite a bit more expensive. For some of us that's a consideration.

Thanks. I have always wanted a SH-AWD so I am disappointed with RDX without SHAWD. I guess I have to test drive both to see which one I should pick. But yeah, the MDX is more expensive which I would have to justify.

I will be keeping my 2011 MDX for the foreseeable future as I am not sold yet on long term reliability and performance of DI (direct injected) engines and no one has yet to explain how Honda DI engines have addressed the inherent problems of most DI engines.

Yes, I know diesels are DI and do not have the issues gas DI engines have and I also realize my Ford Escape has DI, but it is my Company car and all maintenance is taken care of.

If anyone can link or explain if/ how Honda has addressed this, it would be appreciated. Thanks
