AcuraCare Price Quote

AcuraCare Price Quote
Just purchased my '16 RDX Advance few days ago, my 3rd Acura from said dealership. F&I offered me $150 above cost on a 6 year 120K platinum warranty which comes to $1,480. That plan retails for $3,900. I'll be driving 20K+ miles a year. Thoughts?

Correction, it is not AcuraCare but instead Hendrick AutoGuard. $0 deductible if brought to selling dealer (20 miles from my house) or $100 taken to any ASCE repair shop.

Intermediate
so factory warranty is 4yrs/50k which you will probably pass before end of year 3.
that would be $1500 for an extra 3 yrs of warranty.
normally I would say no, but since you drive so many miles, it might be worth it. but this is Honda we are talking about so you shouldn't need it if properly maintained.

I personally would avoid any non-Honda/Acura extended warranties. They are generally not worth the paper they are printed on, as the agency will typically squirm out of anything they can. There has been a lot of wrote-ups lately about unscrupulous 3rd party automobile warranties. I personally would rather spend the extra coin on the manufacturers warranty if I went that route.
But admittedly I am not familiar with this warranty. if you can find legitimate reviews or testimony to the quality of the Hendrick AutoGuard warranty, it might be worth considering. Is it transferable if you sell the car?

Pass on the non-Acura warranty and get a quote from one of the reputable online dealers like Bernardi, Curry, Saccucci Honda or others.
The dealer will try to flog the non-Acura warranty because they make boatloads of money on it - upwards of 50% of the cost.

^^Well that makes the choice easy, doesn't it? Thanks for posting that btw.
When I bought my 2008 RDX last year, it had just come off the 7 yr/100K warranty by a few days. As a buyer, it was still nice because the earlier owners had taken care of every little niggling problem under warranty, and the vehicle was in great shape when I got it.

You may want to check Saccucci and Bernardi as well. I know that Saccucci will give you a discount on the maintenance plan as well if you buy the Acura Care from them - I've verified that with the discount it is actually a hair below cost.

I would also recommend getting an online quote from Hyannis Honda. I was able to get D62 (6 year, 120k $0 ded), for $1250.00 for having the car in NJ. I have a 2016 RDX AWD Advance. I average 30k/year in driving so I wanted the most milage with the shortest number of years.
Good luck!

Great tips guys, I'll do just that. I'm gonna average 30-30K a year too with my new job so the 6/120 is what I really wanted and $1250 is $200 cheaper than what Curry quoted me

Absolutely...take only the manufacturer's warranty. Most of the dealers are douchbags anyway.

FYI, I just received my Acura Care package in the mail yesterday, direct from Honda/Acura. I was surprised it came so quickly being that I only ordered it ten days ago! Note, even though the contract may say Honda Care on the application, the contract is an Acura Care contract (I was originally concerned about this when I ordered it).

Went to my local dealer today and asked for their best price on a D62 6 yr/120K warranty, told them I had a competing quote from out of state dealer (but I didn't tell them how much), they came back at exactly same price $1,445. He said its $100 above their cost. Unless sales tax is charged on a warranty, I'll give my local dealer the business. I still have to contact Hyannis & Bernardi and get a quote

Get real Fabian. This is a public forum. There is nothing to prevent the dealer or his stooge to flip through the pages from Acurazine. No wonder they got the exact amount quoted.
Now why would you give them your business? Aren't they the ones who tried to rip you in the first place. Now they figured out that you know the color of their underwear and they are trying to play nice. Give the business to the person who gave you the best quote in his first attempt. That way we all can support the best dealer too. Good luck.

I don't know anything about where you bought you car from. I was only talking about the original non-Acura warranty which one Acura dealer was trying to sell you. i didn't know that was different from your local dealer. Please get quotes from all concerned before you pay the money. I was only trying to be helpful. Apologies if I sounded hurtful. May be I am a bit paranoid too. .
