Excellent find!

I will need to add a vehicle to my stable in the next 1-2 years and wanted to stick with Acura. The last kid is leaving the nest this year and I wanted to downsize from our 11 MDX; but, get better mpgs with the same amount of utility as our 08 RDX. The current RDX was more than I wanted to spend and the TLX doesn't have enough utility (hiking, biking, cargo space for trips, etc...). I will have to compare a new CDX to a used RDX to see which way I will go down the road.

I do like the 8 speed dct and turbo though. Wonder if shawd will make it too.

I like it.
The 1.5 turbo is quick and gets good MPGs.
I also like the dual exhaust look which probably will be gone in a North American model.
I'd rather have dual exhaust ports than the hidden exhaust with the weird trim design on each side.

I don't think it would be enough for the size of the vehicle. Remember china usually gets smaller engines than us because they pay tax on engine size (though I think anything below 3.0l is tax exempt there).

But also remember Acura is moving back towards sporty, like the new MDX has exposed dual exhausts. So if this comes here, I am certain they will be exposed as well.

I can see the CDX having two engine choices of the 1.5L Turbo or the 2.4L i-Vtec along with the 8DCT. As long as it has enough leg room for me (6'3", size 14 shoe), hitch option for bikes, and plenty of room in the hatch with the 2nd row with one or both seats down is all I need as an errand/commuter/weekend around town car.

I think both engine choices are too under-powered for sh-awd. It will be the CR-V awd system most likely.

I feel both engine options will be underpowered all together. The gla and x1 come with much more power. Gla amg...enough said lol.

But yeah I highly doubt shawd will make it through, they want to cost cut like crazy lately

I love it. If it comes to NA, I will get one.

The issue is that we are never happy. We always like to critize lol. i think if we don't like a car or brand, there is a simple choice...move on on the next one.

I'm liking it! I want the handling and bank-vault solidness of the 1st Gen with all the new gadgets!

+1 for keeping the visible tailpipes.

Looks better than the GLA, I just hope performance won't suck with the smaller engines, and outward visibility will probably suck, but it sure will beat the GLA and the NX moneywise, so that's good.

I definitely think this kills the gla in the looks department. I wonder what the interior will look like, from the small pic of the lower center console, it looks really good.

now if acura was feeling crazy and shoved in a turbo 2.0 and shawd....hmmm

Comparing the CDX to the ILX, they are about the same weight if they both had the same 2.4L engine/8DCT trans combo. I don't think the performance would be that far off from each other with the ILX/CDX along with 33-35 hwy mpgs.

It sounds like the 8DCT can't handle a lot of TQ, the 9AT+2.0T might be too big for the CDX, and the 7DCT would be too expensive (and maybe to large). I think we are stuck with 1.5L turbo, 2.4L iVtec, or low boost 2.0L Turbo with 8DCT during the model run as possible engine choices.

I like the look of this compact vehicle. It looks different and it will capture the RIGHT attention if they do it right with the TLX as well as the RLX. People are so critical of Acura because we want to believe in the brand and we support it, but I can say that sometimes I've been critical but I think they are headed in the direction of not looking like any other car on the road.

Well fwiw, I drove an ilx with the 2.4 and 8 speed dct for a few hours....HATED IT. Felt completely underwhelming, the 8dct on the other hand was impressively smooth and the shifts were lightning fast. I just don't feel that a 2.4 natuarlly aspirated engine will be enough. But then again...people have bought the hrv with the 1.8 and CVT (yikes).

This CDX is based on the HRV, so its really not an RDX replacement. More of a mini CUV like a CX3.

Ive driven an HRV before and it was a nice little ride. Only thing I thought it needed was a more powerful drivetrain, which seems to be address in the CDX with the turbo.

I don't think anyone here believes that CDX is the replacement of RDX. It is definitely a smaller vehicle. What we mean is the future RDXs will look like this CDX (in terms of styling) albeit in a slightly larger form. RDX will retain a significant majority of its clients anyway even though those who want a smaller vehicle will like this option.

Exactly. Completely different size class. The RDX is sized just right as it is. Acura has woken up I think, I expect the next gen rdx to be completely slaying its competition. It is going to be both sporty and more luxurious. I expect to see a turbo and a DCT transmission at least.

The CDX on the other hand will most likely be a really good alternative to the gla, X1, and q3. Just like the rdx is now in its' class.

I think the compact suv is a good size

Rdx, nx, glc, x3, q5 all look good

X1, q3, gla look cramped

That back does look nice. Glad they keep brought back the visible tailpipes. Though I'm guessing there won't be SH-AWD on this?

Nice. Somehow I do not like the headlights of this car. The current jewel eye headlights look more elegant IMO.

I'm looking forward to seeing the CDX in North America to see how it looks and drives in person. I think the CDX would make a perfect city car for commuting and weekend errands. Hopefully, Acura will price the CDX around the same as the current ILX ($26k-$35k) and add the exact same AWP as the RDX, awd option, and option for a trailer hitch (for bikes).

First mod would be to paint that muffler black so it blends with the underside of the car, couldn't they have come up with a real dual exhaust?

I am very positive they bring this to NA market...it will be priced a little higher than ILX but very similar.

Acura will benefit from this a lot. Mark my word.

Where does Acura say they are bringing this to NA?

Currently, the CDX is being MADE IN CHINA!
in other words, it'll cost too much to import. if they did import this; the drivetrain, emission equipment and headlights would have to be changed to adhere to U.S. Regulations.

ALL the literature on the CDX says its intended for the Chinese Market.

No where does it say they are planning to bring it here, nor does it say they are planning to make a U.S. Version.

like NO WHERE.

you guise keep dreaming tho

if they said; Hey guise, we're going to be using our Ohio plant to produce some HRV - Acura equivalents, THEN TONY PAC, you would have a strong case going for you.

but alas, the other manufactures have better designed CUV's and better performing, all of which you can BUY TODAY!

Where is Acura?? late to the game as always, or will they even show up???

mark my words

I wish they would bring it here. It's a nice looking vehicle. I think the CDX is more appealing than the X1, GLA, and the NX.

I believe we'll see a CDX here in a couple of years.
The market will grow for the compact CUV.
