2016 RDX Brake Pad w Prongs?
I have a 2016 rdx with brake squeal. I changed the pads to Akebono, changed all the hardware. The rotor looks ok. The squeal persists even with the new pads. I'm wondering if it is coming from the three prongs that are attached to the backing plate of the inboard pads. These prongs fit inside the hollow piston on the caliper. Does anyone know what these prongs are for? I assume they keep that pad in contact/alignment with the piston. Is there another purpose? Has anybody considered whether they are a source of noise?

The prongs do not have anything to do but make the point of contact occur with a consistency. There must be another problem, did you use anti sequel pastes in the right places,,did you use hot water and a good scrubbing on the rotors before you installed them. That good cleaning before the install has ruined many break jobs, oh and by the way the remark above on how to take care of the problem your having,,Wasn't that absolutely Brilliant. Yes , do that take it to the dealer and let them take care of you,,almost as good as the answer a few weeks ago about a problem and the answer was ,,,,,,I don't Know,,,,,,,,,,,there ya have it
