2016 Advance: how do your ventilated seats work?

Mine even at full speed move almost no air on my back. I was expecting something much much better.
I wonder if it's a common issue or I have a defective car (on both seats? weird).

Through the magical wonder of play on words, the seats are ventilated and not cooled and as such, only serve to either blow or suck air onto your bottom. These are not nearly as effective as cooled seats which have a true cooling feature and will make your bottom feel as though you wet yourself.

I will however add though that you should feel something and feeling nothing at all isn't normal. Go check another one at the dealer.

Yes I wasn't expecting to get my butt frozen because I understand the difference between ventilated and cooled seats.
However comparing my ventilated seats with the ones Lexus NX provides I can definitely tell the difference.
I will go check at the dealer for sure.

Oh for sure, they still serve a function and you will feel it for sure. Not feeling anything isn't normal. Don't let them take you around the park. Though also try turning the AC on and have it focused on the foot area.

I love the ventilated seats. They're fabulous. Yes they only blow cold air on the booty, but when your cabin is cooled off, and you still have hot-ass from the black leather seats that ventilation is OHHH SO WELCOME

My ventilated seats on my MDX are hit/miss depending also on what you are wearing. The more your clothes can breath, the more you will feel the ventilation. I hardly feel the cooling in my jean shorts; but, my workout clothes (especially after a workout) really can make you appreciate the seats.

What happens to the "farts" in ventilated seats? Are they taken care of by the system?

I suppose they allow you to share your "gift" with everyone in the car at an accelerated rate

Can someone tell me how the ventilated seats work with the remote start? Is there a way to have the seats turn on with the remote start? Or do you have to hit the switch after you get in? I know on the TLX you can set them to 'auto' on the screen, but the RDX has switches.

I think you have to turn on the switch afterwards. I have only had a day or two to play with it but I bet this really comes in handy on long drives verses short ones

The seats are ventilated. Taking inside air and blowing the air in to the seat bottoms and back. Each front seat has a separate fan mounted under the seat. They do feel good on a hot day...even if the air cond. is nice and cold...the seats will make you feel better....but, be patient. It's not like blowing ice cold air up your butt instantly. I start out with the high setting...3 lights....then often drop it to the 2nd speed. But, again, it takes the air inside the cabin...not air from the air cond. system.

Better than the seats in my 2013 model.

I test drove a 2016 RDX Advance today. I had the ventilation on '3' and could barely feel it. I did have on jeans though. It did have an effect, but not nearly what I was hoping for. On a long drive I can see how it might make the seat more comfortable, or if I had dress pants instead of jeans. The sales guy did say that I could have the seats set to turn on with the remote start. Didn't say how though.

But while the RDX is a nice CUV, I think I'm a sedan guy.

Sorry. No luck getting the vent seats to turn on with the remote start. I thought if I left the seat vents on when I turned off the car, the remote start will recall this and turn it on. That did not work.

You have to manually hit the switch to turn on the vents.

Thanks, I was figuring that since the RDX has switches vice the touch screen buttons in the TLX, it may not work with the remote start.

I just did a long drive (1200 miles round trip) and a long drive is where these ventilated seats shine. Really enjoyed them on the drive. I do not think they are near as nice on short drives

Cruising down the Interstate last weekend, I experimented with the ventilated seats. I changed the "mode" of the climate system to Hi-Lo, where the arrows on the display are pointed to the head and feet (two arrows). By delivering cooled air to the footwell, the seats really got very cool, very quickly. In fact, they got downright cold after a few miles of driving with this configuration.

Those little, tiny holes in the seat can't pass a lot of air, but the leather got very cold quickly.

So, put some cold air down on the floor to make your cooled seats work more efficiently.

The ventilated seats blow the gas right back at you and out in all directions. Trust me. Your passenger(s) will know if you cut one.

On a side note, do not turn on ventilated seats if your backseat passenger has a habit of taking their shoes off and placing them under the seat. The smell will get circulated around the car much faster.
