2015 RDX Tech AWD

Good afternoon,

I recently traded in my 2012 TSX 6spd for a new leased 2015 RDX. I needed the extra space with a 4 month old. I was well aware of the 2016 RDX arriving in April. I thought the lease deals were very competitive and decided the 2015 RDX fit my families' needs most appropriately.

We are enjoying the vehicle. I have read a few forum topics on the second generation and read articles from the major magazines. I personally think the powertrain combination is great. In my opinion, the V6 really performs well. Coming from a manual I was dreading an automatic. However, I feel the 6AT provides well timed shifts. I frequently drive over mountains and find the paddles to provide respectable downshifts for descent. I have not had the opportunity to really test out the AWD system. I feel the RDX handles well, the steering seems a bit light on initial turn in but no complaints otherwise.

My wife and I really enjoy the interior. The seats are comfortable and the space in both rows I find suitable, especially compared to others in class. The stereo is great, while the navigation and some of the voice commands can be clunky when entering information while moving. I feel I will need to learn the acceptable voice prompts to better manage the system. I think the material qualities and fit and finish are satisfying as well.

We chose to lease the 2015 rather than the 2016 primarily due to value and lack of appealing content (to us) in the 2016. I completely understand the changes made to the 2016, I am aware this was a MMC and the vehicle currently sells well. I had gone to an auto show this winter and did not care for the touch screens in the newer Acuras. Also, I had hoped for a grill similar to the ILX. Lastly really did not find the wheels to be appealing.

Choosing the 2015, I understand I will miss out on some items I would have liked to have. I really like the LED lights. While I have not read any driving impressions on the 2016, I assume I would have enjoyed the additional rear bias in the AWD as well as handling improvements. I would have liked to have the ventilated seating as well as the integrated remote start.

With all of this being said, I felt like the RDX provides a great value and is packaged well. The lease deals I felt were very aggressive and this coupled with the previous statement ultimately lead us to this CUV. I am looking forward to a hassle free three years and will definitely be interested in the packaging of the third generation.

I came from a different direction - '13 MDX based to the '15 RDX AWD Tech - but the rationale and description is almost identical. Not enough for the '16 to get me to wait, and while the '15 RDX ain't perfect, it hit 95 percent of my check boxes and the deal was good. A whopping 436 miles so far but liking it a lot!

I think it depends on the 16's price. The car should have more features given today's technologies.

I agree the 2016 will have more technology and I assume itwould be a little to a modest price increase as well, excluding an Advancedmodel. I purchased the 2015 due to my own perceived value and my lack ofinterest in some of the 2016 changes. But there is no doubt the 2016 will offermany new technologies.

Very transparently, a lot of these new technologies (blind spot assist, lane departure warning, etc), are completely overrated. In my experience, being a competent driver that actually checks over their shoulder, pays attention to the road, is just fine.

On that note, I have seen countless drivers on the road that aren't competent - so hopefully these technologies serve to assist them.

I agree that some of the safety features may be unnecessary if you pay attention when driving. Test drove the Volvo X60 and the side blind spot warning lights were distracting.
