2014 RDX stranded me

Drove home from work last night and stopped at the store, went back to car and it wouldn't unlock when I pulled the handle, walked home 1/2 mile, got the other key and it worked fine. Got home, took the other "good" key into house, went back to car to try and start car with "bad" key, got an error message saying to move the key closer. I finally held the key right on top of the start button and it started. I assume there is a battery inside the "key" that can fail.

one of the downsides of push button start. sorry to hear. it's either the battery or the key lost it's sync to the car would be my guess. give the dealer a ring.

Isn't there a physical key inside the fob for emergencies like this?

The key inside the FOB is for locking the glove compartment when you don't want the valet to get in the glove box (you take it with you). You can't start the car with that key.

Uh...no. From page 97 of the manual...

"The built-in key can be used to lock/unlock the
doors and the tailgate when the keyless access
remote battery becomes weak and the power
door lock/unlock operation is disabled."

Then you start it like the OP did.

You should RTFM so that you can be prepared for any other issues that may arise.

hate to say this but your car did not strand you, your lack of knowledge as to what to do if the fob does not work. This is all clearly spelled out in the owners manual

Just read page 326, very confusing...are they saying you place the fob on the start button and push?

I actually knew about the emergency key, I mistakenly assumed the car would not start if the battery was so low it wouldn't open the doors, a short walk home, big deal. When I got home the discharged fob would not start the car until i actually held it right against the start button, I don't need a bunch of people telling me they are lmao off, jerks. I only posted it so someone would know how to start the car with a weak fob.
