2014 rdx
Does anyone know when the 2014 RDX will be coming out? I'm shopping for a new RDX but one dealer told me the 2014 RDX will be arriving in showrooms in May. If that's the case I might as well wait 1 month for the 2014s to arrive. Any info would be greatly appreciated. TIA.

i think your dealer is confused...the MDX will be hitting dealers at the end of may. the '14 RDX will probably be on dealer lots (since not much will change with it) by the fall (which is the typical for new MY).

Over on Edmunds.com forums a couple of Acura dealer employees have posted that the 2014 RDX is in production next month for a May arrival at dealerships.
At least they say they work at Acura dealerships. Who knows with the internet. However, an Acura salesman has no vested interest in saying the 2014s will be arriving in May when they still have plenty of 2013s to sell. The usual Sept release date of new models has somewhat been turned on it's head in recent years. It seems all the manufacturers are releasing new models almost every month of the year so they can get a little more press than if a whole bunch are released at the same time.
If Honda/Acura wasn't so good at keeping things under wraps I would tend not to believe it. But of all the manufacturers it seems like they do about the best job in keeping things secret until the last minute.

2014 RDX's will also be arriving in May, alongside the MDX.
We have 2014's on order and their first production dates are 04/01-04/05.
No changes published other than the color code BS/PA (currently Amber Brownstone & Parchment) now called Kona Coffee Metallic. Not sure if it is the same color, but the code remains the same so it should be.

I am confused?!? Why are the regular model year coming out so early? I can see a MMC or a new model introduction but this is a bit ridiculous...

Like I said before, I think the days of all the manufacturers bringing out their new models at the same time of year(Sept/Oct) are past.

I agree that its not necessary to bring them out at the same time but this is a bit extreme....Maybe they'll introduce the 2017 model in October?!

It's a sort of monkey see, monkey do kind of thing. When your competitors come out with theirs in the Spring, you do the same. It's going to get to where there is no "new model intro season" at all.

I really wish they would have offered the Amber Brownstone with black interior!!! I love that color, but thanks to tracking in dirt from work (environmental scientist) and snowboarding in the winter, I worry that parchment is the wrong choice. Even though I LOVE the parchment two tone look.
Come on Acura! Offer black with AB

You should sign up on the Kia forum, they have LED DRL galore. Just teasing but you will find many Acura folks here that Acura may have done the smart thing by not doing LED DRL...everyone has them so they offer nothing luxurious or different, in fact, they are starting to look really tacky in my opinion. But I respect your preference....

The same for some exposed tailpipes single and dual. Some look great but others look tacky as the mufflers are visible and look crappy imo. Just take a look around at the different ones out there.

I agree. LED drl's are getting overdone. At least with Honda, the jewel eye lighting offers some functional benefit which will get appreciated over the longer term. So I don't mind that they roll out the feature cautiously.
Besides, have you ever seen an Audi with half the led drl's out? I think I've seen this a couple of times and wondered why the font just turn the system off.

There are lots of aftermarket options for adding LED DRL's, and it's nothing to wire them in.
I wouldn't object to a discreet strip, maybe at the bottom of the headlights, or just above the foglights. But I'm not likely to add them. I will say, though, that the RDX would look a little more "in step" with some LED's.

I have to agree with the above posters. Unless they are done well they look tacky.

One of the reasons I chose ther RDX was because it was not likely to be same ol same ol on the streets. First time I saw those LED DRL's I thought "wow, kind of neat" and my second thought was "I wonder how long it will be before they look dated". I am seeing quite a few more RDX's now as a year has gone by, but I know I will always have a car that a few discerning people have and I like it that way!

They now serve a more useful purpose under my cupboards in the garage where they cast a nice light over the stereo system.
