Okay, so I'm getting my tranny replaced under warantee. Fine.
Will they give me a redesigned, new tranny, or the same design with its flaws and then I will just wait for it to fail as well?
I read somewhere that after January 1, Acura is replacing blown trannies with new, redesigned ones.
Where is the reference to this?
An answer to this will help out some as far as piece of mind. If I'm just getting a new but still crappy tranny, then the car is 100% for sure gonesville before 100k. If I get a redesigned tranny, then I have some hope that it'll last as long as a tranny should (certainly not 10k, 20k, or 40k only), I'll probably keep the car for much longer.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

 

Well, if you believe all claims, then yes, the new trannies have been sent out starting Jan 2003.

Regardless, your tranny warranty is till 100K. One would assume they'd have the damn problem worked out by then.

All I can say for now is that nobody who has received a tranny after October 2002 has blown a tranny yet.

 

If you call 1-800-4AACURA they will tell you that they found the problem. It is a defective third gear clutch pack and the new units since Jan 03 have the fix. At least that's what they told me today!!! My first trans blew at 15K, the second at 52k.... I get the new improved trans this week!!!!
