Who has the most recent dead tranny?
Okay, here is the idea.
If people follow the rule, this thread could be quite interesting.
Please reply to this thread ONLY if your tranny died, and you got your tranny after the previous person did.
That means the last post is the 'newest' tranny that died.
What I'm looking for is if anyone who receives their tranny in january still has a failure or not. In theory we should see no trannys that die after a certain date, but only time will tell.
For the record, my tranny is not dead. So anyone with a dead tranny feel free to start the ball rolling.
And no, if you are only experiencing symptoms, I don't want a reply. Just actually deaders that the dealer has decided must be replaced.

currently replacing trans.
I just took my car in yesterday. Tech drove it around and couldn't replicate problem. 6 hours later I call to see what the deal is ( I had put the car in for a flush) and I find out that my trans fluid is "turning black"
This is only 8K miles after my 60K service - shouldn't they have noticed something then?
Anyway - my car has under 70K miles is a '99 2.3 CL and the dealership has "offered" to split the cost of a rebuilt trans and labor. I will be $980.00 out of pocket. I don't think I should have to pay labor.
What the hell can I do though, this sucks and has really changed my view of what I thought was a pretty flawless car.
Any responses, advice etc. would be appreciated. I'll update on the trans when it is done.

My Tranny just died
My tranny died on 1-7-03. Actually, it never technically died, it just sort of didn't work right anymore. The Acura dealer was great. I got a decent rental (1999 Integra) and an apology that they couldn't give me a better one. When I told them what was happening with my transmission, they gave me a rental without even looking at my car. They already knew what was wrong. It would run through first and second gear and then would slip trying to get to third. I was lucky to get to the dealer when I did. I'm sure it wouldn't have made it another day. I'm not exactly pleased that this happened but I am not ready to turn my back on the car just yet. It has 39,000 miles on it and has been great other than this. Lets face it, I can't imagine a better car for the price. Most of the cars we compare the car to cost 10,000 more. I'll keep you posted.

Mine's going in today @ 64K. Dealer is phenomenal, I called on the cell phone right after it happened and talked to the svc mgr who said he would order one immediately. Also replacing ecu, servo he said.

My tranny went out Jan 3rd. with 20,000 miles on it. I picked up the car with the new tranny Jan 8th. They said that they replaced the computer also. They had to re-program my keys. Did this happen to anyone else?
If anyone experiences any slipping or erratic transmission behavior, make sure you take it to the dealer to get looked at immediately. This happened to me around Christmas and the dealer aksed if I wanted a loaner car while my new tranny was on order. I told them not to worry because it was just slipping a little bit, no big deal. A few days later it started downshifting into 2nd without any warning at various speeds. Thats when I drove it straight to the dealer for a loaner.
Don't forget to go to the NHTSA website also to document any problems you have.
