"Transmission Strikes Back" comming soon to a Acura dealership near me!

Here comes tranny #3

Welp, I knew it was getting sloppy. And the fact that the fluid is already brown (dark) at 17k on the trans told me I was getting premature wear on one of clutch packs. Low and behold it started slipping shifting into thrid recently. And now it does it consistently, it'll rev up anywhere from 200-500rpms shifting into 3rd. And it got stuck in 2nd gear (once so far) the other night.

I hope I get a new ECU, and a decent tranny this time. I know (almost positive) the last ECU was detuned. DAMB I WISH I HAD A DYNO! Only because it would always easily chirp into second before the 1st tranny went haywire. Then on the second tranny it never did ... ever (until headers and intake)

Should I take it in now? Or wait until it gets worse, I don't want to play games with the dealership... "I don't see the problem... why don't just do a trany flush for now..." yadda yadda yadda

hmmmm.......... ?

Dave,

You know my thoughts on this already. Just take the car in to Dave at Superior Acura. After riding around in your car yesterday I don't see how they could say it is not going out! If you do take it in, let's just hope they can turn it around quickly for you!

Take it in before you're in traffic and something really bad happens.

Good luck...

I kinda liked mine slamming through the gears, but I began to get scared of living through another sudden downshift, so I took it in while it was still breathing...sorta. Good luck!

It depends on the particular state where you purchased/leased the car and the state where you live, but I believe 3 times does make it a lemon in most states.

Take it in.

Then tell him that Ken Steele is coming in for the same thing shortly. They know me there.

I'm trying to wait till next month when I go on an Int'l trip for 1 week and I can let them have it.

When are you going to Superior?

Hmm, I'm moving out of this complex in 2 weeks. So *cough* *cough* I was going to wait until it was closer to my move date. And use a TL loaner to help me move So I'll probably wait a week. Scary, I know. I'm going to try and avoid the highway and wear my seatbelt at all times.

I'll definetly let the service manager know your comming in after me

So I'm shooting for the second to last week of the month. (work week)

19k miles. Then this one is gone at 39k. So I avg about 20k per transmission

Did you want a time frame? I can pull my files and checkout the service date.

EDIT:

I looked at my documents.

I dropped it off in late December of 2001, and got back at the end of January in 2002.

So, I purchased the car in late July of 2000.

Approximate numbers.

Code:
Tranny Age Miles
-----------------------------------
1st 16 mo 19,000
2nd 15 mo 19,000
