Transmission settlement question

Months ago, I remember receiving a letter in the mail saying I am part of a settlement case with honda and their faulty transmissions.

So, being curious, I entered my vin on the link below.
http://www.hondatransmissionsettleme.../php/login.php

To my surprise, it says that my car is not involved.

Does this mean I am not covered until 109k miles? What else can I do to find out for sure? I have an 03 CLS auto.

Did the letter state that you ARE part of the settlement case, or did it sate that you MAY be part of the settlement case?

I never received a letter, but I bought my CL used and that is probably why, but I am covered... Or was covered. I'm over the mileage now!

I'm sure you kept your letter, so I would check what it said and if says that you ARE in fact part of the case, use that for a little "good will" leverage if it ever happens!!!

If you don't have your letter, I'm sure someone on here should have it and may be able to tell you what exactly it says.
Good luck with it, if the situation ever arises!

Ok just called acura. They looked me up and I am NOT under the extended warranty to 109k miles. I had my trans replaced once in Aug and she said that is the updated trans and I wont have any problems.

I proceeded to tell her that I belong to a huge message board and people have had their tranny's replaced 3-5 times after the "updated" trans was installed. She wasn't buying it and just told me she is sorry, I am not covered.

Ohhhh boy, to keep the car or to sell it? What would you guys do? I havent had any problems since the new trans was installed. Just wanna cover my grounds though because I am not spending $3-3500 on a new trans.

My second transmission was defective (Differential was whinning) and Acura replaced it at 99k miles (before updated warranty) a little over a year ago.

As useless as it may be, my tranny really seems to be holding up strong and I was saying this in another thread, but I don't know how true it is, Acura may have finally gave updated (as in a newer design) trannys instead of re-furbished ones like they used to. Maybe they decided this last year after the whole court thing they had to go through, but I don't know... Just my thoughts.

All work done at the dealership is covered for 12 months or a certain mileage (not exactly sure about hte mileage so I don't want to say the wrong thing), so if something goes wrong by August, you may have no problem if you are over the original warranty.

Like I said, I have had zero problems since the new trans, but I dont want to sit back and wait for something to possibly go wrong now that I know I am out of a warranty.

I either, ride the storm out and hope nothing happens or sell it asap? Decisions.....decisions!!

I say keep it. I'm pretty sure mine isn't covered either but the dealership did it out of good faith for me too. I'm thinking if your updated tranny decided to die it'd be even more of a reason for the same dealership to replace it for free under a good faith deal. At least that's my thinking.

I only wish that would happen. She did ask if I get my car serviced there. Honestly, *knocks on wood*, outside of the trans once and the moonroof, I havent had a single problem since I bought the car, so I told her yes, I service the car, just not often.

24k miles later the tranny has been my only issue since buying my CL-S "knocks on wood too". I did look up my VIN on that link and mine definitely isn't included either. I wonder what made them cut off certain 03 VINs? Obviously it doesn't seem to make sense since ours went bad and aren't "included" on the list.

Well on the TL side we have had only like 2 failures since feb of 05 (when there was a update to the trans) and those failures havent seemed to be they typical failures. And im not sure about the CL but there is a certain vin range of 03 TLs that arent covered by the extended warranty. (which is BS because they are failing at the same rate as the others when acura claims that they were fixed)

Since last august (tranny was replaced), I have had no problems. I would guess, I put on about 20-25k miles since then and no signs of problems.

What made them cutoff some of the VINs on the 03's is probably, the early year made CL's are available for the warranty, while the later year 03's figured the problem was corrected. I have no idea either, but I am taking it as I should be fine. If I am not, I am raising all hell, because IMO every automatic CL from the first 2001 CL made, to the last 2003 made should be covered. No excuses.

Agree. ALL should be covered. Apparently during one of hondas failures on correcting the problem they deemed their fix sufficient and decided to keep certain vin ranges with the updated parts out of it to "Say" they solved the problem, which we all know wasnt true

Well, I guess I just have to be like this ----> for as long as I own this car. I really dont wanna get rid of it. I love the car and it's treated me well, but as soon as I start seeing symptoms, she has to go.

btw, I know this is going to sound ridiculous, but can you somehow pay for the extended trans warranty to 109k? I somehow got fucked outta that deal.
